Hi all,
I wanted to switch from CSP to CSR, but since I've been gardening for a while, I wanted to also get the SUB that comes with a new CSR card. Here's what I did:
The CSR application was declined because "You already have a Sapphire-branded credit card account with us". I'm guessing there's a certain amount of time I need to wait before the CSP comes off my account … any recommendations on what to do next?
a) Call Chase representative now, ask them to check and reconsider
b) Wait until the next CC statement, then reapply
c) Wait until I receive the FU, use it (to make sure it's really truly activated), and then reapply
d) something else?
Thanks for your input…
p.s. I'm a bit anxious to move sooner than later as I have an important purchase I'm delaying that I want to put toward the spend requirement. But I also don't want to hurt my FICO with lots of reapplications etc.
The crux of the issue is that the change has not yet percolated through all of Chase' systems. Try calling their reconsideration line on Monday during East Coast business hours to plead your case.
This is a topic that is for example referenced on reddit fairly reguarly and there is an emperically derived best practice which recommends waiting 30 days after the PC before reapplying for another Sapphire card.
When did you get your CSP bonus?
Best case needs to be 48 months before you can get another sapphire bonus.
@Anonymous Hi and welcome to the forums
You could call and ask for reconsideration, but human being may wonder why close CSP to apply for CSR, when PC to CSR might have possible
I would wait 30 days, reapply and let the computer decide instead of human being taking a look. It's just a HP
In other words, dont rock the boat, poke the bear, irritate lady bug etc...
Good luck!

That's not a hard one to come up with spin ,for example they wanted to start with the sure thing for the first step by PC'ing the FU for the daily driver and then come back to apply later for the CSR.
If the rep is a putz, HUCA.

I'd rather talk to my former mother in law than People Of Chase . True story ![]()

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. My CSP bonus was ~5 years ago so that's not an issue at all.
I'm on the fence between calling the recon line and just waiting a month.
As others have mentioned talking to Chase analysts is not usually a fun experience, and if a human is reviewing the file they are going to find it strange you just PC'd away from a Sapphire product and are now applying for a new one. To an analyst, especially a Chase one, you could appear to just be in it for the bonus, whether that's true or not.
I would just wait and try it in a month or so.
