I'm trying to get an increase on my Quicksilver card that currently has an $8k limit. I'll put about $1K through it some months and there have been other months when it's been over $6K.
Saying "everyone does it" isn't a good reason but it's true. It seems to be a way of life when it comes to CLIs. Either get declined or don't get enough on a credit card company's website then turn to the EO. Cap 1, Barclay, Synchrony ect... There are posts about this everyday. Plus a lot of people contact these companies to increase their limit when they only use a fraction of it. I guess I'm grouped in with them.
Serious question - when it comes to cardholders, what is the EO for?

being a cardholder doesn't mean that you need to be directly effected by each department of the company. based on your spend $8k sounds to be plenty.
I know I'll never use all of my $10K Walmart limit but I can put $1K on it without it showing heavy utilization. That's one good thing about having high limits. Plus, you never know what the future holds. I don't need a Visa/MC with a $10K plus limit but I might need to make large purchases in the future. I rather have it available and not need it instead of needing it and not having it available.
There is a section of this site dedicated to credit card approvals and CLIs. Most of the people that post probably don't need them.

but they also don't go to the EO to beg for them because the website didn't give them what they felt they "deserved"
Not begging. Just asking if a person can review my account to see if it qualifies for more of a CLI than the computer wants to give me.
Probably best for us to agree to disagree on this one
People that argue that others shouldn't use the eo for clis are funny. Do you honestly think they care? They give people cards that burned cap one only a few years later, yet you think they don't want to hear from those people? If I burned cap one 5 years ago and use their qs1 they gave me last year for 1k spend a month but deal with a toy $300 limit do you honestly think calling a HUMAN who isnt in india or wherever their csrs are is a bad idea? Seeing as an online cli is not reviewed by a human.
What do you think their "excecutive office" exists for? For all the high rollers who are worth millions but still have cap one cards? Or maybe for fraud cases where people (and keep in mind NO ONE knows about the eo besides a small group of people on forums like this) want to send an EMAIL about fraud and not call someone directly?
Come on. Get real and stop acting all high and mighty like the capital one excutive office is above clis.
all of what you said is unrealistic lol. (Mod Cut-non FSR and flamng, lets knock this off Xterror you know where this kind of posting ends up)
Nov 6th - Apped for QS & Venture after seeing the prequals for them & was approved for QS & declined for Venture
Nov 8th - After receiving the denial email, I emailed the EO about getting someone to manually review my app for the Venture, basically saying in the email why I thought the denial reasons were wrong & why I was the most important customer they will ever have
Nov 10th - Received call from the EO with the pin & direct number to my secret agent. Called them back in the afternoon & spoke briefly to the person. They asked a couple questions like income etc, and then said they would forward my manual review request to a specialist along with my original email. I thought I'd be talking to the specialist on the phone but I guess they do it differently at Cap1? Anyways, was told it would be anywhere from 2-5 days for an answer.
