Cap 1 cli frustration

Hi there! I've had my cap 1 QS for about 18 months, 3500 cl. I was reading here in the forums about how an increased cl can be helpful, and as I've been working very hard to raise my scores (approx 120 points in 2.5 years) I thought that the time may be right to ask for a cli. Did it online, waited, got the dreaded "We know this is not the answer you were hoping for..." Smiley Sad The reason given was that my average monthly payments are not large enough. No info on the letter about this answer. Minimum payment is $40; I usually pay $75-100. Never, ever just the minimum. Actually, this month I had paid them $200. I called cs and when they looked at my account history they said they could see that every payment had been more than the minimum, but were unable to tell my why my request had been denied.

So I guess my question is...how big a payment is big enough? I use the card moderately; they make some interest off me. I just want to know what the magic threshold is! For the record, everything else is paid on time and more than the minimum as well.

Thanks in advance for any input!

Re: Cap 1 cli frustration

I've never had a Cap One. But I do not carry balances. So my payments tend to be large. For the card that gets the most use, it's usually a 6k-8k payment.

But try their EO. From what I've read, they make things happen.

Re: Cap 1 cli frustration

If I were you I would contact the EO for a CLI.

Re: Cap 1 cli frustration

Thank you! As a noob, can anyone tell me how to contact the EO? Phone or email? I tried to find something in the stickies, but ended up with Applications. I truly have a gift, lol! Fwiw, I've only even just paid $50 maybe twice. Most frequently, I pay $100.

Google Capital One CEO and send him an e-mail including a phone number. Someone from the Executive Offices should call you back. It was Richard fairbank something or other.

Re: Cap 1 cli frustration

I don't even bother with Cap One anymore. Cancelled their card and never going back.

If you have a $3,500 CL and are paying $100 to $200 per month, what is your open balance? How much are you paying in interest? Are you adding any new charges to the account, or just paying down an open balance?

What is your monthly spend overall on CC and how much of that goes through the Capital One card?
