Cap One CLI Denial

Hello everyone,

I requested a cli yesterday and was given the 2-3 day message. I was given an auto cli of $1500 in April but since that was the first increase that I've received since 2011 on a card that had only $300 on it I decided to ask for more (it would help with my utilization.) But, I got up this morning and checked their site to see a denial notice saying that I have a recent credit line change as the reason. I chatted with an associate and asked when should I try again and she said that it hasn't been denied yet but I let her know that I have received the denial. She told me to wait till the end of the 3 days and request again and I should be approved. Has this ever happened to anyone?

I wouldn't hold out hope that the CSR is correct.  Most of the time you need to wait 6 months after a CLI to get another one.  Nonetheless, nothing will be harmed if you try again in 3 days but don't get your hopes up.

Instead of calling the CSR and inquiring, your best shot of getting a CLI is going through CAP 1 EO. They are very good at responding.

Good.. You have a higher chance of getting it that way and update on how it goes...

Re: Cap One CLI Denial

The EO would not even submit my account for a manual review. She just gave me the response that was on the letter and left it there. I was surprised by that, I figured that even if I was still denied that she would submit it for a manual review. Oh well, I tried.

Re: Cap One CLI Denial

I already have 2 QS and QS1, I was hoping for my next card to be from another company but my scores are low and I'm weird about inquiries. I only have 1. But, I just received a call back from the EO apologizing and saying that there was some confusion regarding my earlier call and that they have sent my account to the underwriter for further review. They said that it could take up to a week before I am contacted back.

Re: Cap One CLI Denial

I got a 2000 cli in April. I've been trying every other week. All denied due to "recent change in credit line"

Keep us posted please.
