Cap One CLI?

Hey guys,

Are CLIs with Cap One instant or do they manually review? I just requested and got the “we’ll email you” message. I have the QS card that is basically glued to a $3,600 credit line. It’s a tiny limit compared to my big boy cards like CSR ($39K limit) and Bank of America ($35K limit). Card gets a lot of usage each month and is usually paid in full. Don’t get it. Figured they’d step it up automatically but seems like they don’t budge, not even when requested. Keep in mind that this QS card was upgraded from a previous “low limit” card. So I’m wondering if that has anything to do with it? The one good thing is the APR, which is decent at 10.76% for purchases.

Thanks,

UM

Re: Cap One CLI?

IME they have always been instant.

Seems your card is bucketed. More than likely, if you apply for one of their “excellent” cards, you’d be approved with a much higher CL.

Very nice APR for Cap1 btw 👍🏽

Re: Cap One CLI?

Thanks, the APR is pretty much the only reason I keep the card open.

I figured as much regarding the credit limit. I’m sure it will be the usual “we can’t increase your limit at this time.” 😡

Thanks,

UM

Re: Cap One CLI?

I've had the same issue....I've moved on when it comes to the least flexible CLIs such as Cap1, Discover (altho that changed recently), etc.

Preapproval may help identify possibilities for higher CL with new app.

Re: Cap One CLI?

It’s probably bucketed. Although 3.6k is actually pretty good for starters. Just apply for a new card if you want it!

Discover It: 26.5k
Fidelity Visa: 21.5k
Amex Cash Magnet: 20k
Apple Card: 9k

Re: Cap One CLI?

I have gotten automatic CLIs from Cap1 in the past but I don't know how often. I wasn't even aware of asking for a CLI until I joined myFICO this week. Coincidentally, Cap1 granted me a $1,000 CLI on one of my Cap1 Platinum cards about a month ago. But the $500 CL on that card hadn't changed in over 3 years. After I found out about requesting a CLI  I went on the Cap1 web site and requested a CLI for my other 2 cards. They immediately approved a $500 CLI on one and $400 CLI on the other and they showed up on my account right away.

Re: Cap One CLI?

I have the non rewards platinum 750cl, savor 1kcl (not savor one) and quick silver 1k (not quick silver one)
Got them in that order. Ran thousands through each, got only 1 increase which was automatic on the non rewards platinum from sl of 500 to 750.
I dont even use those cards now except to buy something small to keep them open because I’m mad at them.
Never missed a payment, 100% on time, no derogatories. 16 open credit cards and two store cards. TU 783.

Re: Cap One CLI?

From what i heard a bucketed QS1 card gets up to 8250cl. Mine started at 500cl 1 1/2 years ago and is at 5250 as of this month. I actually just upgraded to the no AF QS today. The upgrade i believe still leaves me in the bucket but it has grown okay. All my CLI were manual as im to impatient to wait lol.

Re: Cap One CLI?

Capital one is my oldest card, mine started as a platinum with a low limit. I've gotten CLI with them occasionally as I've had the card, 1500 then 5900. I PC to a venture a couple of years ago and the last CLI they did was to 8900 in the last year, seems they like to have you around for a while before auto increases?
