Cap One Secured question....

My stepson's GF is trying to establish/ rebuild her credit.

She has a mixed profile.....two positive auto loans , one positive past CC account that is closed,  very recent lates (90 + days) on student loans but prior was on time, and a coup!e of collection accounts.

Total of 2 INQ.

Her score are EQ 556 TU 517 EX 530

Last week she tried the Cap One pre-qual and surprisingly she came up approved for a Platinum and a QS.

But when she actually went to apply she was denied.

I know this happens as pre-qual is not 100% so at that point I had her apply for a Cap One Secured.

That came back denied.

For some reason I seem to remember you can't multiple app in the same day for Cap One......so I'm thinking she was denied for the secured because she was denied for the pre-qual about 10 minutes before.

Anyone have any insight on this ?

Well being she didn't burn them maybe you are right, two app's too close together.  Dang, so she got 6 hp's?...or no?

Re: Cap One Secured question....

Not too worried about INQ's .....they don't count as much and even if they did she'd only have a total of 8 across all 3 CB.

That is insignificant to Fico scoring.

And if they actually kicked back the second app I doubt they pulled any for that at all.

The thing is I'm bankrolling the deposit for this and it is far easier with Cap One sometimes because they approve a secured with 49 or 99 bucks occasionally.

If I have to put down 200-300 bucks she'd be better off with a CU card from NFCU or another I belong to.
