Cap1 QS CLI denial question

declined a CLI on my QS card (currently $13,600 CL).  I have 830 credit and plenty of income.  The reason offered was 'recent use of this account's existing credit line has been too low'.

Now i confess that this is not my "daily driver' card (tend to use my AmEx BCE) - but i do use it for $150/month and pay it off right away.

I had no issues getting my AmEx SL to $30K SL and my PenFed Platinum Rewards to $24k.

Is Cap1 known to be stingy with SL?

Wondering what type of usage with the existing CL they want to see before considering bumping it higher..

Re: Cap1 QS CLI denial question

My strategy to get my limit up to 50K was to simply put all my spend on my Cap 1 card for about three months and then requested a CLI.   Then I switched to other accounts for my spend.   Seems to have worked.

Re: Cap1 QS CLI denial question

Yup, you need to switch you spend. Only you can decide if it’s worth it to you.

Capital One is known to be stingy with CLI unless you give them lots of spend, $150 a month on a ~$13,000 CL is not going to be enough for them. Give them 3 months of heavy spend and try again.
