I tried call the 800-903-9177 to check on status , but that numner said to call back when someone was in -- I know that number is good. I had been getting the 7-10 message when I checked my app through that number, so the Fraud number could be legit -- except the 855 prefix is bugging me

If they called you and were aware of the app, I would say it's most likely legit.
855 is one of the newer toll-free prefixes (they have 844 toll free now as well) and many companies have multiple numbers that go to the same place (I found this out recently myself with Amex... three different toll free numbers, one is '866', all ring to the exact same place).
Good luck... hopefully this just means they need to verify some things and have an approval waiting for you! 
Congrats! Sometimes getting that 7-10 day message and so on can make you worry, but in this case, it worked out. Glad to hear.
