Cap1 denial, should I ask for a recon? UPDATE: Approved!

Cap1 denied me for a CC a few days back because I didn't have a checking or savings account. Coincidentally I was in the process of opening both, so I did things backwards. I now have both opened, so should I ask for a recon or do I need to try applying for a CC all over again? I'm unsure if my opening the accounts after application date is still reason to deny me?

Thanks!

Are you certain that was the reason for your denial also ?

Re: Cap1 denial, should I ask for a recon?

I think OP was saying they didn't have a bank account at all, not just with Capital One.

Re: Cap1 denial, should I ask for a recon?

Sorry, yes. I didn't have a checking or savings account whatsoever, so Cap1 said I was denied for that. I realize a request to recon doesn't hurt, just wondering if it's a waste of time since the checking/savings were opened a day or two after my application date. Smiley Happy

I was denied for not having a checking / savings back in 2011?. I called them and they asked how would I pay if I did not have a checking or savings Smiley Surprised

Re: Cap1 denial, should I ask for a recon?

I see their point, though I've done fine w/o either and could easily pay them w/o either. Regardless, I got them. I'll send a letter, like they say to do, asking for a recon.

Re: Cap1 denial, should I ask for a recon?

Just send an email to the EO, its much easier!

NFCU $60.4k/PenFed $22.5k/Commerce $15K/53 $11K/Synovus $14K/BBT $11K/CapOne $12K/DCU $7.5K/BMO $7.5K/Chase $14.5k/Cabelas $10K/ and many many more!
Total CL $398600, plus car and RV loan.
Ooh. Ooh. Getting closer to that $500K mark!

Re: Cap1 denial, should I ask for a recon?

Cap One does not recon denied applications. You can always try your luck with the EO, but I'd say the odds are against a successful recon in that format as well. I'd simply reapply at a later time when your all set up with your banking accounts.
