CapOne CLI Denial for a non-sensical reason

So my master plan to combine my QS One into my QS is at hand.  The last step was to get a CLI on my QS One as it has turned a year old before the combine to the healthy CL.  They keep refusing it due to the following reason:

We were unable to obtain your most recent monthly payment data from the credit reporting agency

I've searched this board and found a few similar posts but no solution or follow-up.  Has anyone able to figure out what this means?  My payment record is sterling, and I've never let a balance report.  I've had a very healthy spend through the QS One as well to take my SL of $500 to $3,000 in six months.  My score is roughly 100 points higher than when I started and there are no new negatives on my CR's.  I've even called and asked them, and their reply was "I've never seen that reason.  Try again later I guess."

I had the same message in the past. I used the chat module and they did a manual review for my account.

How long ago was that?  They told me they got rid of the EO department and getting a manual review done is very unlikely now a days.

~ 8 months ago. I don't believe the posts that Cap One has gotten rid of their EO department, I think that those post just feed on themselves.

I just spoke to the Capital One EO a couple of weeks ago. I began by sending an e-mail which received no response. A couple of weeks later I received a letter via USPS stating that the EO didn't handle CLI's any longer. I just figured that I'd leave it at that. A week or so later, I received a voicemail with a telephone number, PIN code and a direct extension to someone to speak to. Called in and spoke to the EO whom basically confirmed that they will no longer handle CLI requests.

As with most things, I guess YMMV as I just read on the approval forum that someone spoke to the EO and was told that the EO didn't handle CLI's but received a call back the next day (or a few days later) saying that they were going to review their account.

There was a big 'debate' about this just a day or so ago.

In the case of the OP here the EO request wouldn't be to overturn an automated decision, it would be to seek assistance because the automation is failing altogether... which is a different matter (IMO, worthy of an EO contact).

I think sometimes folks get upset when they feel their own personal experience isn't being acknowledged or 'respected', however my answer to that is that I don't doubt anybody's experience at all; but there's no harm in trying anyway to see what will happen.  Things do change quickly, and just because one (or even a dozen) people were told "no" to something doesn't mean the next person will be told "no" as well (or be told "yes", whichever the case may be).

All that aside, OP if you decide to reach out to the EO please let us know how it goes.  If it were me, I would put in my email specifically that I was seeking help with a system problem (and give a brief explanation), otherwise they will likely just think you're looking to have somebody override the computer and your request will be summarily rejected... sometimes it's all how you phrase it.  Smiley Wink

I agree.. There is more to the OP's request than "I want a CLI". Please let us know the outcome!

And that's why theres nothing *to* report... Let $10 post... something small... Otherwise, they'll report nothing.

Thanks for the suggestions and feedback everyone!  I have both possible solutions in the works of emailing the EO abouit the system issue and letting an amount post on all my revolving accounts.  I have just emailed the EO office today.  So far letting a balance report has had no effect on their CLI system.  Both my CapOne revolvers have posted a balance on the statement for August which I also see on my credit monitoring.  And, I have still received the same result.  At this point, I'm going to chalk this one up to a system glitch and persue the EO option.  Please let me know if anyone else has another option.  I was really looking forward to this CLI to combine my QS One into my QS ASAP. Smiley Sad

Re: CapOne CLI Denial for a non-sensical reason

It's a perfectly sensible reason if your original post is accurate.  If you've never allowed a balance to report, then you've never had a monthly payment, so there is no payment history, good or bad, to report.  CRAs generally don't recognize mid-cycle payments, so for example it doesn't matter if you max it out if you pay the whole thing off before it reports.  What will report is a balance of $0 and a high balance of [insert limit here].  As a poster above said, let a few dollars post and then pay it off and see if that changes anything.

Best of luck! :-)
