Yes, what South Jamaica is true.  Your Platinum application is denied because you already have a pending/approved app in their system.  If you do not want the secured card I would suggest you call and cancel the application.  Then maybe in 30 days or so reapply for the Platinum card.  Allow that application to clear system all together.

Update - Just got a letter from CapOne dated 8/18

Says my app was denied due to "There is a currently pending application".

I'm sure your secured card will end up being approved. Good thing is I don't think that second app cost you a HP anyways did it ?

They agreed to re-review it because they didn't even give it a chance due to already having an open app for the secured. But they're only supposed to deny if the other app was already approved which it technically hasn't been yet.

They didn't HP initially but they may now because they are re-reviewing it I hope not though because they already HP'd for the secured app.

I'd prefer the non secured but will accept either one.

Update- So I had contacted the EO about the situation which they thought was strange too.

They said most likely I'll be sent out a secured card soon and they will disregard the platinum app with no HP. I'll probably build up some good history over the next 6 months then apply again and hopefully get a much higher SL than if I was approved for it today anyways.

Wish me luck will update once the card comes in the mail!
