Hi there!
@Anonymous wrote:I thought I read here somewhere that Capital One only lets you apply once every six months. It doesn't matter if you're approved or not, if you apply, then you can't apply again until 6 months are up.
I don't think that's accurate based on my recent experience.....
I currenlty have 2 Cap1 cards:
Platinum/Quicksilver - Applied and approved on 08/11/18
Quicksilver1 - Applied and approved on 01/19/19
So that puts it around 5 months and a week? I just dug through my inbox and verified the dates...
i honestly dont believe in that rule on 12/31/19 one of my clients got declined for capital one venture and on 1/7/20 same client got approved for Cap 1 QuickSilver so idk what happened to the rule then !!!
Interesting to see this thread pop up again and read where I was last May!
Since then I have gotten a pre-approval for Cap 1. Turns out that I had to manually sign up (opt-in) for preapproved offers, and soon after I did that, they were pre-approving me for the Platinum, Savor and Quicksilver with no sign-up bonus (my scores were about 670 then). Then a month or so later, I guess my EQ was up enough (in the 690 range) and I got preapprovals for Platinum, Savor and Quicksilver WITH the sign-bonus. (I did not get accepted for a card, but did app—only to have the app not go through! I decided not to pursue it because I just got an AMEX.)
Anyway, it's interesting to see how things have changed and how spot-on so much of the advice given here was! 670 FICOs were when things started to really look up!
As for Cap1's limit to one app every six months, I have no idea!

You can app for more than one card within 6 months, but you can only get approved for 1 card every 6 months.
