Hello all. I've had the Capital One Quicksilver since the very end of August 2014. I've already had six statements on the account and there hasn't been an auto CLI. I've done some searching but I haven't been able to find much on Capital One and auto CLIs; most involving their Credit Steps program. Given the experiences of others, is it possible that there will be a CLI when I hit six months with the card, or is it purely statement based? If there is no usual auto CLI I will likely wait until the six month mark and hit the CLI button. Just looking for some input. Thanks.
Some people get auto CLIs with them sooner than 6 months. Some right at the 6th or 7th statement. Others not at all. In other words, there is no clear cut "time" in which you'll get one.
The good news is that after 6 months, you can certainly hit the SP CLI button and you can potentially get approved. before 6 months you will simply get the "account too new" message no matter how many times you try.
Since it's been 6 statements I would try the CLI button. I'm not one to wait around and hope for an auto CLI especially since the button is a SP anyway so there's really nothing to lose, just try it. If you really want to go for an increase and the button declines you, you can go to the EO. They doubled my QS from 3k to 6k when I'd only had it two months.
I thought I had read elsewhere that if you use the button it won't work for you for another 6 months but their FAQ seems to indicate you can do it as often as you want. I just didn't want to push it now and get the "account too new" message and then go push it after 6 months and get denied for requesting so recently. I'm not in need of a CLI, it would just be nice and the FAQ refers to having the account open for at least 6 months rather than 6 statements so I'll probably wait.
Then it sounds like you're best off waiting, especially if you do not need the CLI. Asking for one just because isn't necessary. $10k is pretty good for a QS!
I don't know if it's true about only working once every 6 months, just that you have to wait the 6 months originally for it to work in most cases

I just gave the button a try and got the message about how there would be a letter in the mail. Perhaps just short of 6 months is too soon after all.

Typically if your account has not hit the magic number (i.e. exactly 6 months) you will be auto declined.
There are a few people who got luv button increases before then but it doesn't seem to the norm.
I would try again in a few weeks to a month and you may get it if they feel you "need/deserve" it. But you said it isn't super important to you, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Luckily, it's a SP.
Just got a paperless inbox response. To my surprise it doesn't mention the account being too new, instead "Recent use of this account's existing credit line has been too low" which does make sense. I haven't even cracked a 1K balance and it's a 10K CL so if they're looking for like 3K to go through on average I can't see it happening for awhile. Doesn't hurt to try the button though.
when i got approved for quicksilver one, i received an email about credit steps, and how I would receive credit limit increase by 6th statement. Last week I received 2k cli on the card, and today which is a day after 6th statement received 500 cli.
