Just Ridiclous! I have a $9800 limit (Quicksilver) WITH A ZERO BALANCE, and all I want is $200 to make it an even $10k. Denied online. Denied again 2 months later. Denied again 2 months later!! Just BS!!
The thread you have replied to is nearly a year old, so I've moved your post to a new thread. --UncleB, myFICO Moderator
Can someone PM the EO Contact info as well please? Trying to get a manual review.
I really dont understand why folks get upset. It's their money they are lending you and they have the right of refusal. There is no rule, law or document that states they are required to give you a CLI...even for $200. I myself have tried several times with them and each time I have been denied. I'm cool with it it. $14.3K is more than enough for me and I barely crack $500 in expenses with Cap1. Don't let that OCD drive you nuts man. I know 10K is a nice round number but that extra $200 is really no big deal.

Cap One likes to see lots of use and higher dollar amounts spent versus your credit limit. I was denied a CLI for not using my card often enough or at upper amounts close to my credit limit. (YES I used a HP for this event). When I replied I did not like spending/reporting at 50% or more of my limit they replied use it more. I read their take to mean use it or no go(on cli). A fact, Credit Card Companies make money by "Card Swipes, unpaid monthly balances (aka interest earned), and fees (late, overlimit). Monthly PIF users don't generate any gravy money for them. For myself, I am happy to have their card, however I have other cards with better limits and accept that all cards can not be in the same limit league. Good luck in YOUR JOURNEY.

+1. I've observed myself that behaviors that are often strongly recommended here (keeping utilization as low as possible, PIF'ing every month, etc.) may not always necessarily end up yielding the best results that you want when it comes to things like getting your credit increased. Getting new cards, sure - but for getting CLI's? Variable results, I think. Issuers want to see their customers using their cards actively and they want to be earning money from their cards (and they also want their customers to use their cards responsibly, not max them out all the time, keep their utilization rates reasonable, and so on). It's a rather complex balancing act.
