I just called customer service (3/12/2020) and asked if a CLI was hard or soft pull. She told me that it's a soft pull ... 'that's why we tell our customers that you can request an increase at any time with no effect to your credit score.'
I'm not exactly sure if this inquiry (attached) is from requesting an increase online. What's ya'lls experience???
It's soft pull

From the only Capital One card that I had and closed, it was always a "SP" for CLI request no matter what.
If they explicitly state that it "doesn't affect your credit score," it's definitely a soft pull.
Technically she only said it's a soft pull. I didn't ask explicitly if it would effect my credit.. Should that be assumed?
I was say there's a 99.44% possibility that it was a soft pull.
I see that as a 0.56% chance that it isn't .... Just how my mind works. Plus, I haven't (I don't trust my memory) requested any cards, just an increase and there's a HP on my report.
You can easily find out where you got the HP----by going for the free credit score at Wallethub. It's absolutely free---no credit card. It's a Vantage 3 score.
But they have enough of a credit report to tell you where you got the hard pull.
I went ahead and did the CLI online....
No dings and alerts, so I guess it WAS a soft pull .....
