So, I finally got the courage to get the phone and call capital one to request a credit increase. The rep was nice. She advised me to go online and submit a credit increase and that it was a soft inquiry. When I was done with the request, capital one online response was to wait for about 2 to 3 days. It's already more than 3 days and still no credit increase.
I called capital one to find out what was going on but the rep said, they were still processing and I would be getting a letter in 7-10 days. I pressed to ask if that was a flat out denial, she said no. They were simply still processing and the outcome was yet to be known. Hmmm! What could capital one still be processing for many days?
My experiences with “2~3 days” response from CapOne meant it’s a denial. The denial letter usually show up next day in “View online documents” under “More account services”.
I just went through a cc app 2 weeks ago with them. I know your situation is a CLI, but in my case, it was the same experience you've had thus far. I applied online on a Saturday after having a positive pre-qualify on their website, did not get instant approval online. Then got an email saying that they would be in touch with me.
I called them on Monday. They said to give them up to 3 days for them to reach out to me, they didn't. I called Wednesday, spoke to someone who basically confirmed my address, DOB, and a few other generic ID steps. They said my app was delayed/held up bc of need for confirming ID. After the phone call they said to give it a few more days to see if I were to be approved. I called back Friday, they said I was approved for 3k for the Quicksilver. I waited like 4 more days for it to come in the mail.
I was surprised bc aside from this now, all I had was a secured Discover IT card with a 1k SL which is still secured. My Fico 8 were in the low 600's. 628 Equifax, 605 Transunion, 621 Experian. They're a bit higher now.
So don't be discouraged, although your circumstances may differ, you may be in the same process I was. Stay positive, and give them the 3 days, cause they will not pass you through to the ID confirmation people until 3 days has passed.
Hope that helps
It's all computer generated. You either get an approval, counteroffer, or 2-3 day message which is a denial. Cap1 doesn't do recon.

That only applies to new apps. CLIs are automated. You're either approved or your not.
