After reading on this forum for a while, I decided to see if I'm pre-qualified for a Capital One Platinum. After try numerous times after my 11/2018 Chapter 7, it finally said I was pre-qualified. I'm thinking this has to do with a new AU card on my CBR and my Fingerhut account finally showing up ($300 revolving). I pulled the trigger and got this message:
Thank you for your interest in a Capital One® credit card. Joseph, unfortunately we were unable to approve your application at this time. We know you’re disappointed. To help you understand why, we’ve explained the reason for this decision in a letter or email that you’ll receive within 10 days.
Woops. Anyone else have this experience? I didn't get the reasons for denial yet.

The best course of action a month after bankruptcy may be to obtain 3 secured cards and a secured credit builder loan. We have a rebuilding section in our community.
So far, I have:
$300 Fingerhut 12% util
$300 Kohls (not reporting yet) 12% util
$200 Discover AU 30% util
$200 Capital One AU 30% util

Call them for reconsideration. Hard pull already happened so it cant hurt to try.

Maybe all you need is time? 11/18 was just here. Just a thought.

Sorry about the denial.
Cap One recons are almost never successful.
I think your uti may be an issue as well as one month out of BK.
6-12 months out of BK, should see better results, if I recall correctly.

True with most banks, not true with Capital One. There is no reconsideration available. Unfortunately all you can really do is try again later.
Cap1 wont recon. The CSR's are bound to what the computer says 99.999%. The pre-qual page is pretty solid in most cases, but some still get the sorry not now message.

If they got burnt. One year out usually opens the door.
