Hi all, if this isnt the right place, I apologize, just tell me where to direct it and I will.
I'm rebuilding from a Chapter 13 discharged May 2023, I have a handful of cards, and just got a new car so have that auto loan. I have Amex Plat, Amex Blue, Cap1 Savor One, Apple card, Barclays American Airline, and Discover. All but the Capital One card has decent credit lines, this one only has $500.
Cards, balances and CL's:
Discover - $30 balance - $10,000 limit
Apple - $100 balance - $1,700 limit
Barclays - $0 reported balance - $1,800 limit
Amex Blue - $100 balance - $1,000 limit
Amex Plat - $100 balance - no reported limit
Capital One - $40 balance (since paid off) - $500 limit
Auto Loan just opened in October for $44,000 balance first payment being made in December
I've only ever put our weekly Friday night date night dinners on the Capital One card so far and always always paid it off even paid more than once in a month to ensure I'm not carrying too high a balance or that it's paid off.
I waited until the 6 month anniversary of the card opening to request a CLI, I did request a CLI a month and a half ago as well. That time and this time they said account was too new. But this time they said a payment return also factored in their decision.
I had setup a payment of around $60 and didnt realize I selected an incorrect checking account that didnt have the funds to cover (I think I was moving away from that bank or something) so again stupid mistake, I realized almost immediately after the payment was processing that I screwed up and then put in a $240+ payment in from the correct checking account and that payment paid the balance off a few days after the "returned" payment ledger entry.
I'm kind of miffed that they count that as a negative. I get it but I also know it wasnt because I couldnt pay the bill I just chose the wrong account to try and pay from.
Should I call them to clarify this payment return as I feel this is gonna be some black mark on their systems for god knows how long and I'm also confused why they said the account was too new. Or should I just leave it be?
I'm not planning on using the card anymore for a bit.

you could try and call them and tell them about the mistake and that it won't happen again and see if that somehow changes how the returned payment is coded for your account, but I'm not sure it will help
it took me 7 months/7 statements on my QS before I stopped getting 'too early/too new' as the CLI denial reason
returned payments are almost as bad as missing a payment, and you'd probably get your account closed much quicker for two returned payments than you would for two missed payments.
it might be a year maybe two before that blackmark goes away, but it could always be sooner, so I'd check every month after you get the statement, send off a CLI and see what you get as denial reasons
