Capital One Secured

I burned C1 on a Spark business card in my BK7 which was discharged in Sept 2019. I would love to get back in with them. I've done the preapproval on the website and get the message that there is nothing avaibale but then there are the "suggestions." Is it worth applying for the secured card if it doesn't show up on my preapproved list? I'd hate to waste an HP if I'm on their blacklist.

BK7 filed 5/19/19, discharged 9/20/19 (lesson learned, some people aren't meant to be business owners and should stick to their day job, some people is me)

Re: Capital One Secured

Capital One is a good lender. However, I would not recommend the secured card because it will not graduate to unsecured. Perhaps, give it more time and check back monthly if you have any unsecured offers?

Re: Capital One Secured

Hmmm, I don't want to get stuck with an unsecured card. I guess I'll just wait until I get preapproved. Thanks for the advice.

+1

They won't graduate and an HP from each bureau. How much did you burn them for? That might decide how long before you get in?

Discover, Navy, US Bank have good secured cards. BofA now has their application online, no longer invite.

I burned C1 for about $22k. I also burned DSCO for about the same. I have a Navy secured and it's due for 6 month review in November. I'd like to stay away from secured cards but I'm willing to do it to get back in with C1, DSCO or Chase.

Wait for Navy graduation. It will upgrade to CR. Then apply for 2nd Navy.

How long after graduation should I wait before applying for a second card? Would it be better to request a CLI on the first card? I maxed out my CL on the secured at $5k and from what I've read, the CR card will start at $2k.

You can apply immediately. App new card before CLI.

Does it count as an HP? Can I ask why it would be better to get a second card before CLI?

The CLI first has potential of lower SL on new card. Maximize what you can get there first. Expect a TU HP.
