Capital One - Stuck with CLI

I started my credit journey with a Capital One Platinum in 2015. I ended up getting the card upgraded to a Quicksilver. In the last 5 years the limit only got the $1650.

2 years ago, I applied for the Venture card and that card is now up to 8k.

I called CO and they said the terms and conditions on the first card will limit the increases. 

I don't want to close it and lose my history but want to use it.

Any advice with CO and the limit on the account?

It's just never going to grow very quickly. Its pretty much a beginner/rebuilder card. It's a good 1.5% cashback card without much growth.
