I have a question for my dauhgter. She is new to credit. No cards, no score, no nothing. So she submitted a couple credit card applications and was denied which I thought she would be considering she has no credit. So she applied for capital one as far as I know last month and was denied but applied again about 10 days ago and recieved a letter yesterday to call or send in documents verifying her identity. She called today and was asked a few verification questions which were obtained from her credit report and was told after that if she was approved she would recieve the card within 7-10 business days. What do you guys think the outcome will be? Any advice will be appreciated thanks.
Not much info to go off of but my guess is they will give her a small limit that she can work with and build. If it was a flat out no they wouldnt go through identity.
That's what I thought just wasn't sure.
Just a thought to maybe help since she is starting out new. If you added her as an authorized user on one or two of your accounts she would pick up our history and could help generate a score for her. You don't have to actually give her the card when it comes in, but she could use the boost to maybe get a decent offer after a few months. Continueing to apply now won't do anything but hurt. After she picks up a few of her own cards a few months down the line you can remove her as an AU, but she will have her own lines then to build her own history.
Other than that, applying for a secured card could be another way to get a start.
