Re: Capital One luv button obsession!

Capital One has been good to me with approvals, PC's etc, but so far in almost exactly one year as a customer I haven't received a CLI outside of credit steps, and I've never seen one single offer under the "modify features" section of their site. I've only hit the CLI button maybe 2-3 times in that year, maybe I should try more often.

Be careful how often you press the button!

There was a poster on this forum complaining about his Discover CL and how he had been trying to raise the CL since the day he received it without any luck. All of his other cards were 10K+, his scores were 750+, but his Discover was stuck at $2500 like the day he received it. The card was 3 years old and he couldn't get a credit line increase no matter what he tried.

We had a long back and forth discussion about what he tried, call customer service etc.

Near the end of the discussion I asked him if he tried the luv button?

"Every day", he said.

"What do you mean by every day?", I asked.

"Every morning since the first day that I received the card, I sit down with my coffee and press the luv button."

He wasn't getting CLIs because for the past three years he pressed the luv button EVERY SINGLE DAY!

Now, I'm actually guessing how this works but I'm pretty sure this is how it works: Once you press the button and are declined a CLI, it starts a clock. Each lender probably sets this time differently but for the ease of clarity let's say this timer is set at 1 month. If you are declined a CLI the timer will automatically decline your next CLI if the button is pressed in less than 1 month's time and it resets the timer again. You keep pressing the button, you keep getting denied, you keep resetting the clock. After a while you will look extremely desperate to a lender and never get a CLI!

There are some reports from people that got 2 CLIs 2 weeks apart, some in same statement, others got the second CLI after statement cut.

I think that many things in the 'credit game' is YMMV.

Re: Capital One luv button obsession!

In my experience with CapOne, its always been better to call the EO for CLI.

Ive had the luv button work for me.  However, the luv button always seems to give me very small (<$750) CLIs whereas the EO has doubled my CL.  As far as frequency of luv button effectiveness, im not sure.  I usually try to wait 6 months between CLIs.

Re: Capital One luv button obsession!

I opened my second account with Capital One (QuicksilverOne) on 2/23/15.

Was declined for a cli by luv button 3/14, 3/16, 3/27, 4/9, & 4/15.

Was approved 4/21 for an additional $1000 (my sl was $500 - I'm in the process of rebuilding with scores just below 600).

I ran up my card and paid it off constantly - I pretty much used it whenever I would ordinarily use my debit card.

Am I the only one that hits the Cap1 luv button several times weekly? lol

Yeh, it's just you. Obsessed with a cli button.

Press, press away too much and it could back to haunt you with an AA.

Unfortunately  a no....Smiley Mad

Figured so. I only opened the QS card a month ago. I've had my other Platinum card since 2000 but don't use it anymore after I paid it off since it is not a rewards card. (They won't let me PC it).

A month?????????????????

Dude, lay off the luv button and let your card grow with time. By that Cap1 likes to see you use/pay the card for least 6 months.  Quit kidding  yourself (or anyone else trying to get a cli so fast) and slow down.

Your time will come. Just need to work the current SL they gave you and if you play your cards right, the CLI fairy will give you all the limits you can ever imagine.

Smiley Very Happy

You hit it on the nail Jaime.

Some people are so obsessed with hitting that luv button, it's beyond obsession.
