You know, Discover is handing out great starter limits now. It's Freedom's competitor. It also grows faster and with soft pulls vs Chase hard pull increases which are CRUMBS.
I've been denied by Discover in the past, in my early rebuilding stages. Do you think I'd qualify for one with my stats?
Util: 4%
AAOA: 3.5-4yrs
INQ: 2-TU, 5-EQ, 19 or so on EX
Income: $75k
Baddies: 2-3 collections + 1 charge off on EQ/EX, 1 collection on TU. Most recent late payment 7 years ago. All my collections are nearing the 7 year deletion mark (april)
EQ: 679 / TU: 700 / EX: 674
@Anonymous recently got approved for CapitalOne Venture @ $10k, obviously hasn't reported..also, do they recon?
Discover approved me a year and a half ago without anthing more than a barclay $1000 balance card. It was a crap $500 limit. I ran one transaction and today I checked it and it was at 1500. lol. I decided to put it back in the drawer and keep it open.
Thanks for all the advice! I still am not sure what the heck I am gonna do. I'd apply for the Venture if I just wanted another card. But i'd never use it beacuse of no rewards and no intro offer. Than again, combine it with Quick Silver and it'd be a good card. I need to read up on the rules of combining products.

Meehan,
Cards must be zeroed out, in good standing, and 6 months old for combination.
Co-branded cards(i.e Sony) cannot be combined with regular cards.
I believe you can't combine an annual fee card with a non annual fee one, but don't quote me on that.
you can combine Venture (AF) with QS
Chase Freedom has me pre qualified at 18.99%. So I am in the middle there. So far the best APR to the best you can get is on the VentureOne. Which in my mind would hopefully give me the higher initial limit with the 0% intro I want.
And thanks for the info Elim!

@turkey,
Discover loves thin, clean files but your baddies are aged so I'd think you're good. Discover can be wonky at times though. They typically pull EQ and you only have 5 inqs( or is it 6 with yesterdays Cap1 approval?)
Your other stats are great.
How long ago was the denial? What were the reasons given?
Yeah I have about 6 + 1 from yesterday so about 7 INQ on EQ alone. The denial was back in November 2014. Reasons were probably many, the fact that I had just started rebuilding then, they listed my collections and my fico score was about 70 points lower
@meehan
Freedom has the 0 intro APR for 15 months too so Cap1 doesn't have the best(unless you meant APR and potential higher starter limit=best?)
You can also attempt a 2 for 1 with Chase. Apply for Freedom then a co-branded card. If approved, immediately send a secure message requesting to transfer all of the limit to Freedom and close the card.
Sometimes, you can get one double pull for 2 back to back Chase apps.
