Capital One secured to unsecured cli

Hello everyone! So I'm reading and reading and I have not found one instance where any Capital One card graduated from a secured cc and received a cli after that. Is that true? Can anyone respond and tell me they, in fact , did receive a cli eventually? Thanks!

DH and I both got Cap1 secured at the exact same time.  They took him from secured to unsecured after 1 year.  He requested a CLI 3 or 4 months later and they generously gave him $100 more (lol).  I wasn't so lucky.  They decided I wasn't good enough for the same offer which was strange when I have 4 and 5 digit CLs AND credit scores in the 700s.  His is still in the 600s.  I do have their QS1 card which is my lowest CL now since I decided to close the Cap secured.  I couldn't justify them just holding on to my money when I could invest it elsewhere and let it grow.

Thanks for the quick reply, 100$?! That's nothing! So no matter how much better your score and report gets, it seems like everyone who has secured is in the same bucket. I guess the secured cc serves it's purpose for us in rebuild mode. basically even if it unsecures, the card goes nowhere.

That's my take.  But I will say it really got the credit ball rolling for us both so that I am grateful for.  I'd like to hear from someone who may have had a high initial investment with the Cap1 secured and then graduated to unsecured.  Maybe $1k or better and now they have their initial investment back and received a CLI.

It has helped my credit a great deal. I started with the cap1 cc, I had too because the cc my local CU gave me only reports to Equifax. So a week later I apped for the secured cc with cap1, started with a 301$ cl. My score has gone up a little over 100 points since getting those last year. My 11th statement cuts in a couple of days and I'm very anxious to see if it'll unsecure. Which prompted me to do some research on here to see how it worked out for the people on these forums.

Theres many people do received a CLI after unsecurement. However the CLIs weren't for a lot and they weren't right away either . also just so u know most people the unsecurement happens a week or so after the 11th statement not usually the day of so don't get your hopes down if it doesnt happen the day of.  If your looking for more credit from them however I would suggest another card once your credit profile is comfortable enough for unsecured cards w decent SL. However you don't have to go with cap1 in fact I suggest finding any other creditor that you have preapproval for. Cap1 is stingy unless its a savor or venture card .Then they hand out $30k SL like its free waters lol. But i put a lot of spend with them and my profile went up after a year .I took the triple HP of course on a new card and only got $1k from them .Meanwhile got 2.8k from navy and 10k from disco and 1k from every other creditor on that spree. However I was new to everyone else .Cap1 had already seen that I PIF most the time so that 1k was disappointing to say the least .

Yep from what I've read, they could unsecure anytime in the next month. I think I've done everything right, autopay, heavy use with large multiple payments, never late etc. You're right, I already have a quicksilver one (750$ cl) with them and I am not interested at all having my credit pulled 3 times again just for another card. I really hope that qs1 will grow too! I appreciate what they have done to help but I see that other cc companies in my sight later on. Not another cap1 card. I started this a year ago cause we want a mortgage in the next 6 mnths. Last baddies fall off in may or June. I've been successful in some early exclusions this week with Transunion and Experian, just not eq. So we will have to wait. Are mortgage scores usually vastly different then your regular ficos?

I graduated in Jan and tried to cli and denied. I then tried at the next statement this month on the 4th and denied. I then tried half month. Denied. I will try Sunday on the 13th month to see if I can grown it. I PC to a QS a week after graduation as well. Fingers crossed. This is how my lowest limit card but helped me rebuild.

Thank you for the reply! My 11th statement just cut and no word yet. I do see that Cap1 did a SP in Jan.so i hope they don't decide based on that pull cause my utl was a little higher. I spent more on my cards for Christmas.
