Re: CareCredit CLI denied over and over...

@jnbmom

That was why I called to get the information on when they will update their system. The “manager” said quarterly, which was inaccurate imo because it has been more than 3 months since my last score pulled.

So my only option is request CLI here and then to see when the score get updated. Or wait 6 months as you suggested.

But my main frustration came from the reason for denial. If it’s too soon, then says so. But use the outdated score to denied the request is just not making any sense.

I agree with the others that your best bet is to give it some time, but if you need the CLI right away did you consider asking Credit Solutions?

I know you called them about the denial, and they were right - they can't help with that - but if you ask them for a CLI usually they have the ability to pull a fresh credit report (SP) while you wait.

YMMV on if they can help with Care Credit anyway (there have been mixed reports) but it won't hurt to try.  There was a time where if you were denied online you could call them the same day and they could often grant the CLI, but there are mixed reports there as well.  Again, you won't know until you try.

If you don't wish to check with them again or they are unable to help with Care Credit, you'll need to simply give it some more time.  I understand your frustration with not getting a clear answer for why they use old scores, but that's just how they roll and you'll end up just spinning your wheels trying to figure it out.

Good luck whatever you decide.

Side note:  If you keep asking for a manager, usually after the first escalation you simply get passed to another employee.  I know this from personal experience working in a call center myself.  Repeatedly insisting on the next level manager on a phonecall is almost always fruitless.

Re: CareCredit CLI denied over and over...

Adding additional Care Credit DPs:

Card issued 6/01/2018 for 1K;

6/28: CLI of 3k;

9/25: CLI of 5K;

11/21: CLI of 6K;

Have asked 1/2 dozen times since but CL stuck at 15K for the time being.

My suggestion: hang in there; don't get frustrated; the vault will open eventually; keep asking. Good luck.

Re: CareCredit CLI denied over and over...

@UncleB

I did asked Credit Solutions and they said they'll just use whatever the data in the system currently. I even told them they can HP a new score if they wished and they said no.

At this point, I'll just wait until 6th statement cut and try again. I don't really need the CLI, as I am sitting at 4% utilization (free financing). It's just mind boggling that Synchrony obviously think that I am worthy of having more than 1K exposure (approved me 3 more cards with much higher SL), but refused to give me any CLI on a 1K account that use for medical purpose. That make no sense.

But as others have said. Nothing is certain in the credit scene. And the reason for my post and multiple dealings with the CSR fr CareCredit was to find out why old score was used. And when their system would update the score. Which so far, they just couldn't give a concrete answer. So I posted on here to see if anyone had similar experience. But I guess not.

Re: CareCredit CLI denied over and over...

@James_A

Thank you for the DP. So it is indeed you can request multiple CLI and get approved as soon as a month after approval.

I supposed that had I waited a few months and applied with a much higher score. I could get much better SL and also a few success CLI since the approval will be based on existing score for many months later lol.

I knew score will improved and thought that CLI wouldn't be an issue if I started early (for AoA aging), use the card and make payments regularly, then with improved scores, I can get CLI no problem but obviously that's not the case with So not updating the score lol.

Thanks. I don’t mind at all if the denial letter stating that’s the reason for the rejection. But as the 6months between CLI. I think it’s not 100% correct. I did some searching on CLI with CareCredit and I saw one poster stated that he requested CLI one day after approval and it was a success.

That exact experience happened to me, as well!  I was approved for a SL of $5K on Oct. 5, 2018, and the next day I logged into my Care Credit account and requested a CLI to $7K and they responded with a CLI to $8.4K.

AMEX BCP $8K | AMEX Cash Magnet $15K | Citi DoubleCash WEMC $15.2K | Citi Rewards WMC $15.5K | Citi Costco VS $12K
Citi Custom Cash WEMC $7.8K | Synchrony (PayPal Credit $6K, Care Credit $15K, & PayPal 2% MC $10K, VENMO VS $6.5K)
PNC Cash Rewards VS $10.5K | NFCU cashRewards VS $14K | NFCU More Rewards AMEX $37.5K | NFCU Flagship Rewards VS $23K
Discover IT $22.5K | BB&T Cash Rewards $4.5K | Macy's AMEX $25K | Bloomingdales AMEX $20K | Apple Card WEMC $9K
PenFed Power Cash Rewards VS $7.5K

Total CL - $284K+

Re: CareCredit CLI denied over and over...

Did you ever make a purchase with them?

I am worried they will close me down.

They did after about one year on the old card, with a small limit of about $1000.

I re-applied and they gave me $4500 but I haven't used it yet and am worried they will close me down for inactivity. I would like to get LASEK eye surgery someday and that sure would help!

@hockeypnc1

I used it multiple times at Wal-Mart (babies stuffs and personal hygiene items) during the first 2 statements and PIF as soon as the transactions posted. But after a few unsuccessful CLI. I stopped and haven't put a dime into it.

So if you worry about inactivity. Just go to Wal-Mart and put a few bucks on it.

Check this link for qualified items.

That's great!

I could just buy some deodorant or shampoo then!

Re: CareCredit CLI denied over and over...

That's my biggest fear, too. 😱
I had to get full dental rebuilding and the cost was $20,000. The dentist only took Care Credit, so I applied for $15,000 just to be cautious (my biggest card at the time was Citi DC $5,500 so ...)
and I was approved. I had my mother apply and she got $11,000.
Suddenly, we bought a new house but after months of waiting for escrow to close, I never got any of my dental work. It's been almost a year.

I came on these forums and they said as long as your FICO score stays good and you use the card every other month (in December, we had no Chrstmas decorations, so I blew $500 at Rite Aid on holiday sales stuff and junk food, facial cleansers, etc.), it should all be okay.
So far, so good for both of me and my mom!
I plan to go to Rite Aid this month for another spree just to be safe.
Peloton also takes Care Credit and my new home could always use a new exercise machine (so I keep telling myself, lol).
But, yeah. I used all my small bank cards moving in, and all of them went from 5k CL to 10k CL or more, I am guessing cuz of my huge Care Credit limit.
So, ... as long as you spend a couple hundred bucks every few mos, PIF and keep your scores above 700, I think the chances of CLD are really low.

However, I will get my dentistry done soon enough. And feel way worse when my $15k card is almost at 100% utilization. 😟 Ugh.
