Chase 30 Day message from 6/10 changed to 7-10 message

My friends phone message status changed from 30 days to 7-10 .... is that good bad or indifferent?  I guess she has been through 7 days so far.  Thoughts?

When she applied she was prequalified for Freedom, Slate, and CSP .... now after doing the one FU application, no pre-qualifies show up.  What is going on over there?  She did sit tight and not do any othe apps but I don't think this will end with a card.  If they have switched to some sort of ridiculous 2/24 rule (which I don't buy), I can't imagine who would ever qualify for that but something seems to have changed.

I had advised friends with good scores and all to start out here because of the 5/24 thing and get the Freedom and CSP if those were desired and then move on and plan from there.  Now what do you all suggest?

Thanks!

The 7- 10 day message can mean anything.  Also, when you take advantage of a Chase pre-equal they [including others] don't show up again until some time has passed and then they start showing again assuming you qualify.

Tell us a bit about your friends credit file for better responses.

Don't rely on what the message says as it can go either way. I'd just wait for the decision and try not to read too much into the recording.

It's still a chance it can go either way. I wouldn't read into the 7-10 message too much.

Re: Chase 30 Day message from 6/10 changed to 7-10 message

Her scores are 735, 749 and 740.

Her newest card is a Cap One Venture from more then a year ago.  (2) other cards paid down and used enough to stay open, (1) is $9k and other is higher then that but it is with Barclays and she doesn't love the card.  She's had them a while, I think he aaoa is like 6 years - maybe it's less and she doesn't know what that means.  Maybe that is her oldest account.  No New apps, less then 10% owed, no baddies, no new anything.  She makes low 6 figures ..... I mentioned the prequalified thing because she did show up for the CSP and slate still after apping and now as of yesterday or today nothing, but everyone I seem to know is no longer on the chase prequalified site.  No changes just not there any longer.  Who knows?

If the others don't show back up there, where do you suggest they go?  They all had been gardening and paying things off as per my recommendation and now there are like 4 of them with good scores, no new apps, low debt ect .... but maybe they should go somewhere other then chase???  Sugggestions?

Prequals are a great reference point if you`re unsure if their credit reports and scores are sufficient, however I wouldn`t necessarily fully avoid applying for a card because no prequals show up as their full report matters more than just a automatic screening.

If they have no baddies, decent scores, low utilization, decent AAoA, no recent apps and have less than 5/24 then I wouldn`t worry too much about it.

Even if they had previously been on the prequalified and now are not? ..... Literally each has been waiting for the last paid off statement to report to make sure utilization was best possible for results and then the prequals disappeared.  The other few people I tried to guide - based on my reading here Smiley Happy  - they got amazing approvals with chase and are going on to places like NF and PenFed but if they start there, there is no hope of Chase. ..... I just have never encouraged anyone to app at Chase without the prequalified ..... I guess it's more enter at your own risk.  It just seemed so odd that they disappeared.  Maybe chase changed their algorithm and don't like those profiles any longer.

Do you remember what the APRs were on the prequals? IMO, if they had a prequal before and their overall profile has improved since then theoretically, they would have a higher chance of being approved? I highly doubt that 4 people would simultaneously lose their prequals after optimizing their profile, Chase must be screening periodically and it might be just temporary for now.

Re: Chase 30 Day message from 6/10 changed to 7-10 message

Had the exact same thing ... got the 30 day then went to the 7-10 days.  For me that just meant that they sent something in the mail for me to all in and verify.  I take the 7-10 means to me snail mail.  It can go either way.  Denied or just requesting you to call and verify who you are... with scores like you - Im pretty sure they are just verifying you are you.  My letter in the quote un quote mail was just that .. for me to call and verify I was who I am... I was then approved.

Keep us posted.

She had previously called but they said they couldn't tell her anything, that it was under review .... should I tell her to call again now that her message has changed?  She would HAPPILY do that as she is having a hard time with the waiting.  Thoughts?
