Re: Chase AARP CC Approvals/Declines

In May 2015, I was approved for a Chase AARP Visa at $11.0k with 16.24% APR. They hard pulled both EQ (FICO-08 of 801) and EX (FICO-08 of 799).

Curious: there's 2 listed versions of the AARP

A)  3% on dining and gas2

B)  3% on travel related (flights, etc)

I have A, but it doesn't seem like you can actually apply for B - it just redirects you back to A's application.  Does anyone have B?

@Slight sidetrack....but does anyone have a no AF card  that does get 3% or better on travel?  Right now Discover Double CB is the best I can see @2% or Fid Amex or Citi DC.

SSFCU Power Travel Rewards give $3% on travel + 10% bonus so 3.3% total.  It has no AF, or fees of any kind including no BT fees or even cash advance fees.  The drawback for that card is limited service area.

I don't really consider the BofA travel rewards 3% if you need to book through a specific portal to get it.  That wouldn't allow me to book work travel, where I go through a special portal, and it also doesn't allow for booking from discount sites.  Nobody really talks about the BofA AAA, but it's hard to tell what they mean by "qualifying travel purchases".  If it includes all travel then that would be good.

Well, that's why the application page has a Terms and Conditions link. It looks like airlines, hotels, car rental and others are allowed, they don't have to be all booked through the AAA portal. The key is whether you are paying the airline, hotel, or car agency directly, because the MCC of that vendor is the critical part.

High Bal Jan 2009 $116k on $146k limits 80% Util.

The BofA Travel Rewards card is where I referred to a specific portal.  Another user mentioned that he could get 1.5%, but 3% when booking through the BofA portal.  To me, that's definitely not 3%.  As I said, the BofA AAA card doesn't get much publicity but looks like it offers a good travel rewards program.  Two different cards.

With all travel rewards cards, if you book directly with airline, hotel or rental card then it should certainly be covered.  The really valuable ones will also include things like Expedia, Hotwire, Priceline, etc. because you can often get better deals through these and other portals.  I had an experience where Marriott (not the card, just the rewards program) would not issue points for a booking I made through Expedia.

Do any of you guys get regular CLI on this card?

Or is this one of those cards that you can't request a cli even?

250k+ CL and climbing.
