I opened this card back in April. SL was only 3K. Until recently the website/app didn't let me even request a CLI. When I saw I could finally request a CLI, decided to try since it's supposed to be SP these days. Got the 7-10 days message, and was denied the next day.
DPs:
Soft Pulled EX & TU
Chase Internal Score: 754
Probably doesn't matter but EX F8: 752, TU F8: 754
7/24
3/12 (Last one was this card)
0/6
Utilization: 6%
Nothing negative
Their denial reasons:
Length of time since the oldest credit card was opened (2+ yrs)
Number of accounts opened in the past 12 months (3 CC + 1 Loan)
Number of credit cards with a balance close to the credit line (Nothing above 24% (this card), 2nd one is 8%, overall 6%) (Does Chase internal score use the max reported on charge card as limit like old FICOs? If so, maybe that)
Credit card balances compared to the age of the accounts ($4.7k, some carried 0% APR, most pay in full)
Number of recent inquiries on credit bureau report (EX: 0/6 1/12 6/24, TU 0/6 1/12 4/24)

IMHO you were denied because of 5/24. I have read that 5/24 is being applied to CLI requests as well as to new account applications.

I tend to agree that 5/24 influences customer initiated requests as @SouthJamaica mentions. Of course, YMMV. I was also just recently denied a CLI request and the sole reason listed was "too many recent requests for credit or review of your credit." I'm currently reporting a balance on 2 cards with 5% overall aggregate uti( CFU at 20% and BOA Unlimited Rewards at 8% utilization). Fico 8's hover around 740-760 across the bureaus. New CC Accts- 8/24, 4/12, 1/6. Inquiries EX: 14/24, TU: 6/24, EQ: 3/24. They SP'd EX only.
Yeah I guess it's the 5/24 rule. Weird thing is I got this card when I was at 7/24.
I'll keep trying, hopefully I don't have to wait until I'm below 5/24 (10 months away)
