I've been reading that Chase may or may not be loosening up the 5/24 rule so I applied on 3/20. I was denied. I got the letter today and it stated "account hasn't been opened long enough to establish a history". I have a card that's 10 years old on top of probably 10 others ranging from 2-6 years old plus a mortgage and student loans.
I called to recon this decision because it seemed wrong (to me and I'm aware you can be denied for any reason). The rep did another HP (which sucks but whatever) and said they would get back to me within 1-2 weeks. The phone robo currently says 2 weeks. I get the feeling this will not be a success because I have seen others get instantly approved.
Thank u for doing it for science 😅 Now I'm glad I didn't fall to temptation lol. Hope you get approved 🙏
I'm reading plenty of rejection posts on reddit, for example;
'I got Amazon Prime with a lower number. Your 760 is CK score or FICO 8? how many credit cards you have and do you have a Chase card? Or any CC with over 5K credit limit? My guess is underwriters check your profile and u have little spend on it and probably no amazon spending history. At the time of my Prime approval I was 735 with 3 year credit history and 1 year with Chase.
They approve of people as low as 700s and 1 year with Chase so, you probably don't meet their min. requirements, even with a high score.
My friend with a low 700 score with 1-2 years with CapitalOne was counter-offered a Store Amazon card for 3-4K.'
'Credit score - 750 Income - $170,000 Applied - 02/16/2022 Result - manual review required and was told to wait for 30 days. I called Chase lending services the next day. I was told that I was denied due to too many new accounts in the last 24 months. I was redirected to their reconsidering line and the reconsideration agent said the same thing. When explicitly asked if the 5/24 rule still applied to the Amazon cards, the southwest cards and the united cards, he said that there has been no changes from Chase's side and that all the rules are still the same Opinion - I feel that the 5/24 bypass thing was a time bound thing. Together with increased signup bonus, it looks to me like Chase had some quarterly goals on customer acquisition that they met and now it is back to business as usual.'
Have you tried Amazon preapproval before applying? Maybe an useful indication..
@Anonymous Pull the trigger and apply. Nothing ventured nothing gained.
For me, even though many sources report the "Two Week" message on the phone as a good thing and an assured approval. It most certainly wasn't in my case and turned out as a denial a month or two ago for this card because of my lol/24 which I forget now but at the time was like 8/24 or maybe 9/24. It's even higher now lol.
I'm not in denial (no pun intended) that it's a denial but I will report back the findings so future "special" people like me can know they have no hope haha.

@T_Lab_89 About 17 months ago they denied me for this CC but earlier this month I got approved for $27K. Chase have internal credit score and who knows what they look for! Give it a try in few months.
Oh it'll be like 24 months haha. I went on a small spree. MOD CUT - PLEASE DONT and their 5/24 rule but I do want that card badly.
