Re: Chase Bank, how I covet thee 5/24 CC!

Ok myFICO family, I am having a crisis of determination.

I have had a lease with Chase for my Subaru since August 2018. A few days ago I noticed I am prequalified for the Chase Sapphire Preferred card in Chase's Credit Journey Just for You offers with a firm 21.99% APR. How long do the pre-qualified offers from Chase remain available?

My plan has been to garden until December 21, 2020, so that I am 0/24 when I apply for the Rapid Rewards Priority card.

After further reading about the Rapid Rewards Priority card, I have found that I would get more points if I were to use a Sapphire Preferred or Reserve card and transferring the points to SWA Rapid Rewards than by using the Rapid Rewards Priority card to earn points.

I still like the benefits offered by the SWA Rapid Rewards Priority card and would still like to get it, yet, it appears that I would get more benefits in the long run with the Sapphire Preferred card towards earning points.

I have a good chance of bypassing Chase's 5/24 rule since I am pre-qualified for the Sapphire Preferred as all they are asking for is my annual income, mobile number and if my income is non-taxable.

the upside is if I get the CSP card now, then when I apply for the SWA RRP card in Dec 2020 I will be 1/24 and ahead on my earned points towards SWA RR points. The downside is that I leave the garden, I get an HP on EQ, decrease my AAoAs.

What to do... what to do?

Re: Chase Bank, how I covet thee 5/24 CC!

CSP alone, outside of SUB, can't earn many URs, and has AF.

It is not the first Chase UR earning card that you should get.

Currently Chase Sapphire Preferred offers:

What Chase non-AF card offers better UR points?

I know you mentioned that the nearest Chase branch is a few hours from where you live, but it might be worth it to take a road trip to see if you have any branch preapproval offers.

Perhaps next week I will take a road trip.

Holy Schnikes!!!

I was looking at Chase's Credit Journey and then looked at my Chase account page. After seeing that my "You're Pre-qualified" offers had not changed, I decided to click on the Credit Cards to see what I could see and this is what popped up.

As you can see I am prequalified for the Southwest Rapid Rewards Plus Credit Card, however, I am more interested in the Priority Credit Card. I have read that I could get better mileage out of a Chase Sapphire Prefered Credit Card which earns more Ultimate Reward points which can be transferred to my Southwest Rapid Rewards account.

I am going to take a road trip tomorrow and visit my closest Chase Bank branch. If I am prequalified for the Southwest Rapid Rewards Priority Credit Card I want to apply. Does anyone have any advice on applying for the Sapphire Prefered over the Rapid Rewards Priority for the points value?

Re: Holy Schnikes!!!

One thing to consider is, do you want a companion pass? Some people apply for two SW cards to earn a 110k miles and qualify for a companion pass. If that's the case, you might want to read up on the timing of getting those points before the year end cutoff and when those miles post.

That gives me hope. I will be practicing my recon speech over and over lol.

Yes, Chase remembers, but in my case, they also forgive.

Re: Chase Bank, how I covet thee 5/24 CC!

Here I am, sitting in a Culver's, eating lunch.

Why, you ask? Because I didn't think I needed to make an appointment to speak with a personal banker. Silly of me to think I could just walk in and talk to someone.

I arrived just after 1pm and I was told the next available appointment was at 2:30 pm. So I decided that rather than waste the time I used to drive here, I would get lunch and wait.

On a side note, there is an NFCU branch across the street from the Chase branch. I will upload the photo when I get home. I don't know how on the mobile app.

Re: Chase Bank, how I covet thee 5/24 CC!

I showed up and had to make an appointment also. Best banking experience I’ve ever had. What was cool was I was able to add my debit card to my Apple Pay with the mobile banking app. I was able to withdraw money from my checking with out even having the physical card. It hasn’t arrived yet in the mail. I was not able to add my virtual card to my Apple Pay with BOA until the card arrived in the mail.
