Re: Chase CCs

yes having a chase Checking account for 7months to a Year will Help your chances of approval in My case it was Most likely the deciding factor..when the fraud department ask the banker at my branch did i have a Checking acct and He said yes, then Fraud department told him to hand me the Phone and he told me i was Approved " Instead" of contacting the Fraud department when i applied for Verification i went in Branch and did the Process
My paycheck also direct deposit to chase for over a yr when i applied so yes Banking Relationships Matter Especially if you allow your Pay to come thru..I have a Discover Bank account I swich My Direct Deposit to off and on to give them some action time to time and Between Chase as of now lately My secured discover card is due to Graduate next Month (Hopefully)

Re: Chase CCs

I applied for the CFU back in May and was initially rejected before calling recon for approval. Here is what the denial letter said. My checking account with Chase was maybe two weeks old at the time of application.

This is good to know.  If I may ask and you're comfortable telling, what did they view as an insufficient balance?  If I go the banking route, I want to make sure that I have enough in there.

Re: Chase CCs

Last question for this, I hope.  I'm about to give Crap1 the old HEAVE HO either today or tomorrow.  I can't wait!  It won't harm me with Chase to have a closed account listed, would it?  I really hate having that little $500 limit and it does nothing to help my credit profile.  My utilization won't go up by much at all by closing it, as I just have one card with a balance.  (Gotta love 0% financing from BestBuy!)  So, I want my $99 back and I want to be done with them.  I just don't want to cut off my nose to spite my face, so to speak.

Thanks for helping me out on this one!!

Re: Chase CCs

Nope, no worries at all. You’ll be fine closing it.

Hi dsotm76,

I'm asking respectfully if you wouldn't refer to Cap1 as Crap1. I ask for three reasons:

  1. I had a Cap1 from 2002 ($300SL) until I closed it in 2010 ($500CL). Granted, they only gave me one CLI in 8 years but that was the only problem I had. So, when the card was no longer useful or serving my need, I closed it.
  2. Many people wouldn't even have a CC if it weren't for Cap1 giving them their first one. If anything, I see Cap1 as the lender who will give you a "second chance credit card."
  3. There are a lot of newbies who come to MyFICO forum seeking advice. I don't want them to have the impression that Cap1 is a crappy card because IMO, it is not. I believe it's a good card when you are starting your CC journey, and no one else will give you the time of day.

I also notice that in your tagline you have Crap1 AVOID. I just think this is a bad depiction of the Cap1 card.

So, it's only a request and I hope you would consider it.

Thank you.

Re: Chase CCs

@dsotm76, at the time, I had somewhere between $1.5-2K in there as the initial deposit. I was given a $1,000 SL.
