Taking bets..
Applied for CSP the other night against my better judgement. Now hear me out, it was a green check under your offers! I've never had one of those in my long banking relationship with Chase. My rashness got the better of me and I applied after researching here and finding that the checks were a good indication of a more solid offer.
So I apply with it only asking for my income (70k) and it goes 30 days. Of course it did. Now, I don't panic immediately because again my reading here tells me that's normal and not the end of the world. Even if it feels like it. My other FU also went 30 days so I guess I should be familiar with this. I call verification and get the text code and read it back waiting for my limit. Nope. Still 30 days. fine, so be it.
Then I go in branch to deposit a payroll check and the teller says "did you know you're prequalified?" To which I wince and say yes I already applied but I'm not sure whats going on. She proceeds to tell me have a seat the banker will be right up to sort it out. Great! So cut to her calling and saying "yes I've verified his ID he's sitting right at my desk, how long?" then hanging up. My immediate thought was MR. She says the CSR didn't sound like she knew how long until I got an answer. OK so here I am waiting since 12/6/17.
Thoughts?
Approved.
Call in Monday to do verification over the phone.
I believe Chase ignores CU credit limits, so I bet you get $5000-$6000.
Also great signature, really nice to see the dates on there -- I got my FU in May at $500 but no preapproved offers yet. Want the CSR so waiting for a CSP offer then going in-branch to ask for a CSR offer.
I already did phone verification I wonder if your thought is that by calling Monday it'll help push my offer though?
About the signature. Thank you! I did it because I wanted to show a progression on my rebuild since I have received so much help here at MyFico. I figured if I put it in a logical order another could follow my steps as I've followed in those of so many here. If I could do it again I think I would have gone with the Plat from NFCU and the Promise from PenFed. I think a few PC's are in my future! Low APR's no annual fees and a simple single reward structure are what fit me best! That's why I really like the idea of a CSP and pushing points from my FU. Then there will be the trick of changing that Amex Delta. Maybe move the balance to a BCE at some point? but that's for another thread..
I'm too new with Amex (November 2, 2017 approval on BCP) so I have no idea what to say about moving limits. I believe I've read that the donor card needs to be 13 months old? But I have no clue, I will start keeping notes on that stuff on my blog so I can reference it in the future now that I'm in with Amex and will definitely be eyeballing their offers and SUBs so I can make more $$$.
Since you said the CSP is your first online "offer" how did you get FU? Did you use the prequalification page for it or just cold app? I've been a Chase customer since before the Model T was driving (lol) so I got my FU because of "your offers" checkmark back in May. I've read data points that once you accept an offer online, they disappear for 6 months so I'd be curious if you might remember to report back when your offers come back online -- I am past 6 months now and no new green checkmarks for credit so that's sucky.
I'd love the CSP but I am banking on CSR. I don't cash in my URs ever, and I give my FU $500 a month of usage (the limit) and bank 100% of the URs for the future because if I do get CSR, those 1.5% points become 2.25% which beats my Discover first year and all my other general spend cards. Once Discover's first year bonus ends, I will move ALL my <$500 spending to my $500 FU card and just make payments every other day, lol so I can bank 2.25% in the future if CSR ever comes my way. I'm patient, a 50% return on "investment" is legendary and worth waiting even 2-3 years for!
I'd wait until they contact you....You'll probably get a letter in about a week to call them....I had the same situation as you with Chase in November....Just like you, I had a lot of new accounts...green check mark...30 day message....I played it cool....Once I got the letter, I called in and was approved for $5,000....Just wanted to share my experience with you, patience goes a long way in the credit game!
I also wanted to mention that I've never had a teller inform me about an offer -- I always assumed one has to go to a personal banker and sit down and ask, so this is a fabulous data point. Once you're approved you should thank your teller for letting you know and have them do it again in the future!
My teller is always the same lady and has been for maybe 15 years (plus she also knows my dad and his wife and my mom and her husband, as well as both of my siblings) and never once did I consider asking her for my offers. I'll do that next week when I go into the branch for a free cup of their horrible coffee and to deposit my monthly $5.00 Capital One refund check that they love sending me out of spite.
@Floyduda: I tend to agree. I think I'm going to sit back unless the auto lady changes to 7-10. At that point I'll go into damage control. If I remember right the FU was up in the air for about 7 days.
Yeah that I got the $150 UR sign-up bonus but reminded myself it's worth $225 if I ever get CSR so I banked those, too. Just sitting and watching my URs grow is kinda nice. I have a little tracking app I wrote for cashback/rewards that I update monthly to see what the "real value" of rewards banked are. For example, my Discover cashback is actually sitting and waiting for my annual bonus to post and I'll spend it all on gift cards at $45/$50 or better so it's a nice 10% bonus on top and I'll actually use them for my regular spend!
When I got my FU offer from Chase it was instantly approved even though I had 640 TU with a unpaid tax lien and unpaid collection -- probably why that card will never grow from $500 no matter how I use it. I'm hoping whenever I get a CSP offer online I'll walk into a branch and maybe possibly see a CSR offer, but who knows. I'd accept CSP for a year and then try to PC into CSR after the CARD Act stuff is over. With my travel spend, CSR would be huge. 60% of my non-living expenses is travel related!
Sounds good!
If they want you, they want you....Just like a woman, the more you push them...the more you freak them out. For me, Chase has been awesome...4 accounts in the last year and a half....If they approve you, treat them right!!! It'll be worth it....
Just so you know, I was at 10/24 when they approved me a couple weeks ago...that green check mark is key!
Good luck...
Floyduda: were all your > 5/24 approval green checkmarks done online or in-branch?
