Chase CSR denied

Pre-approval in branch, applied and got 30 days message. Fico ex is 750

Message changed today to 7-10

Called in and the agent said that reasons given were high balances and credit seeking behavior

I don't have any balances and never carry balances, always pay in full several times a month, and I haven't applied for any new credit in over 10 months. No bad marks

The agent put my app back in for review. They said they didn't understand and that it didn't make sense to them either.

I'm not sure if I should recon, or perhaps even apply for the CSP instead? Or just forget chase altogether?

It sounded like they wouldn't give me any new card, no matter the SL. I don't understand why they would offer me pre-approvals and then say that they won't give me a card

A pre-approved offer doesn't always yield an approval OP.

There's a lot of factors come into play whenever an offer is made based on initial qualification criteria and the time that an application is submitted. Typically, there's a disclaimer (i.e. fine print) that's provided when you acknowledge the T&C before the application is submitted which explains certain circumstances in which an application may not be approved.

Re: Chase CSR denied

1. No new accounts in 10 months but how many within last 24 months? Are you under 5/24?

2. What's your highest card limit? I believe CSR requires 10k limit if memory serves.

Understood. However, my credit hasn't changed since the offer or since the application. Utilization is very, very low even though I do run about $1500 through my chase cards every month.

Then I would recon the sheet out of it, assuming there are no other derogs like ex BK or burning Chase even if they're off CRAs.

Re: Chase CSR denied

I'm still pre-approved for the CSP with a 60k bonus offer online

Should I consider apping that and just accept another hard point?

Other option might be the prg which has become more attractive

Chase typically pulls two credit scores.  What is the other bureau they pulled and what is your score there?

In-branch offers expire and I was told by a personal banker recently that they don't know when the offers they see on their screen expire.  So they basically roll the dice if you choose to apply (I was in a similar situation recently where I was approved for all the cards offered by Chase but I decided not to apply although I wanted the CSR).

But the paperwork you got from the personal banker should have given you a clue on how your app would go.  The Disclosure document for an approved in-branch app states "You were selected for this offer" and refers to a section titled "Notice about this offer" later in the document.  Most importantly, it will also show a single, fixed APR.

The Disclosure document for an in-branch approval that was declined has the generic credit card language that appears on Chase's website and shows a range of APRs.

No derogs.

They said I carry high balances but that is not true.

I called the recon line, they said chase card services is handling the app review now, and I have to wait to hear back
