I app'd for both the Amazon Prime Visa Sig and the Freedom Unlimited on the same day last week. I was at 3/24 and read that I could combine both of these apps into a single hard pull.
They pulled both EQ & EX and i got the 30-day notification on both. I called the status line two days later and both apps stated the 2-week message. I received an ID verification call in regards to the Amazon card, and they approved me over the phone ($7.2k). I called the recon line a few days later and the rep told me I was declined for the FU card due to too many new accounts with Chase, and he basically stated that because I was approved for the Amazon card I was auto-declined for the FU. I received the denial letter and it also stated too many new accounts with Chase.
I don't really need the FU card so I'm not too worried about it, but I am curious as I have read that you can get two Chase cards within 30 days. Any insight would be appreciated, just for my own education on the subject.

I was also approved for the Paypal 2% MC ($3.7k) and the Citi DC ($2.5k) a few days after my Chase Apps, but I highly doubt that factored in.

Well, I tried this as well with an IHG and Amazon maybe 10 months back. I, like you had read about the two app deal. However, my results were similar to yours. IHG approved 5 figures, Amazon declined due to the reasons you noted. I don't now remember if it was one or two pulls, though IIRC then just one. Neither of my apps were for anything where 5/24 would apply.
OP -
Congrats on your Amazon approval!
Anything is possible, really, but often depends on your profile and experience with Chase.
I applied for and was approved for the CSR and Amazon Prime within minutes of each other, resulting in 1HP on EX & EQ at the end of March, so it's certainly possible. I already had 2 Chase accounts (CF formerly a WaMu card from 2008, and Marriott Rewards since 2014). I was 4/24 (hence the CSR app first). I had been in the garden just over a year, so my reports were free of HP<1 year. My scores were in the 800s. Even though it's no longer reportable, I did burn Chase in 2007 with my BK7, so it was quite the surprise to get instant approvals on both cards.
