Hi,
Trying my luck with Chase after having built my credit history in the US for about 6 months (originally from the UK, been here about 2 years).
I got an email saying 30 days and says 30 days when I call the app status checker. Is this normally bad news?
so far I managed a citi thank you preferred to start with and this month got an Amex ED and Barclaycard Arrival (Amex was leveraged through global transfer and recond Barclaycard). I applied for a Discover (approved today) and the Chase yesterday after being pulled in by a pre approved offer for Discover, ultimately I'm trying to say I doubt Chase will approve me given my credit profile and new cards, any advice for the reconsideration line?
Welcome to the board. 30 days is generally a good sign. But before we begin, what are your scores? What cards do you have and their limits? Lately, with Chase it is best to not call and let the decision play out.
What I believe is going to show on my credit report is:
Citi Thank You Preffered - $1k limit (now $3k)
Barclaycard Arrival $1.5k
Utilzation about 3%
Ficos I saw on the Amex and Barclays App (mid March) were 742, although such a short history means it's not really that good, but I think last time I saw on Amex it went down to about 710/720.
Amex ED has not yet shown on reports I've seen but is $5k, I decided to apply before this reported although maybe Chase would have like to have seen a higher limit?
edit: Thank you for the welcome! I had been lurking for advice for the past few months doing the right things with the Citi card.
You are welcome and we are glad you finally posted. Based on the info. provided, you will get approved. I suggest you wait it out but if you really want to call then let me know and I will help you with the pitch.
Thanks!
I will keep my fingers crossed.
Trying to get these 5 reasonable No AF cards to build up my payment history faster, and establish relations with good providers. I will hopefully be able to play the serious rewards game in about a year to two years time.

Brilliantly worked. I like this plan and I will keep fingers crossed for you also and update the thread once you hear back.
The rejection came through the mail today along with my be Discover card so it was bitter sweet. Oh I should say for people's reference the phone app status did change to 7-10 day message.
Rejection reason was insufficient length of credit or something which is reasonable as when I apped I was approaching 6 months oldest account, with an average of 3 or 2 months depending if the Amex has reported. Think I have been pushing my luck anyway, have those 4 pretty good cards with that limited history so I'm still pretty pleased.
I am going to call tomorrow, seem to reasonably good at negotiating and an opportunity to practice is always good, the accent always seems to help. Fingers crossed!
Is there any wisdom or advice anyone can pass on before I call the recon tomorrow?
Thanks
