Chase Freedom denied me several times!

This is my first time in this website, hopefully I can get some advice. Here’s some history: Us bank Perks Plus Credit card. CL:$1000 02/2016.
Citi Bank Double Cash. Have a family member as AU. CL:$1300 12/2017.
Chase Freedom Unlimited. CL:$2000 12/2016.
Chase Sapphire Preffered. CL:$5000 02/2018.
Discover It. CL:$4000 04/2018

TU:701, EX:706, EQ: 666

The reason why I want to get the Freedom card is because of the 5% back I can use it towards Chase Ultimate rewards for traveling. I have difficult time trying to figure out what should I do from all of these rejections from the past few months. I don’t know if I’m over 5/24. The letters that I received from chase have a list of the reason why they rejected me is because my oldest account is too short, requesting new credit, and the newest account is too short. I also been banking with chase in the past 6 months. Chase usually pulls my Experian and Equifax. I have 8 hard pulls from chase in my Equifax and Experian in the past 12 months. Any suggestions on what should I do?

Thanks!

You are basically the reason why you’re being denied. Chase revised their policy so that card members can’t have more than one product in the same product line. That basically means if you have a Freedom, you will be denied if you applied for the Freedom Unlimited. Same goes to the Marriott and Sapphire cards. In order for u to get the Freedom you will need to close the FU, wait 30 days then reapply provided everything else on ur credit profile checks out..

This is true, you can no longer get the "Trifecta" with Chase?  Even more surprising, you can't apply for a Marriott card if you already have a Sapphire card (they are both Travel cards or how are they the same product line)?  This is the first I've heard and it sounds like a terrible business move for Chase, if true.

I think he is a bit confused...  Main example is you really can't apply for the CSP and CSR with the new rules and have both although if you apply the same day and get auto approval that is away around that rule otherwise you cahnt hae say a csp/csr unless two autos.. There is no rule you can't have a Marriott card if you have the CSP/CSR, not sure where he got that from

This was not the case in my experience, DW has had a Freedom for 10 years and added a FU 2 weeks ago.

Same thing for me. I had my CFU since 01/17 and I applied and got approved last month for CF.

Re: Chase Freedom denied me several times!

The very first thing you need to do is stop applying for credit; and especially from Chase.  Let your accounts age for a minimum of six months. The frequent applications are creating a snowball effect of more rejections and lenders perceive them negatively as "credit seeking behavior."

The second thing that stands out is that your approval for the CSP in 02/18 is for the minimum credit limit of $5,000.  That suggests that Chase has extended as much credit to you as they can at this time; primarily because of the newness of your accounts.  Its unlikely they'll approve another card when you've only had the CSP for 4 months.  And after that you opened a Discover card; Chase is especially sensitive to accounts opened so shortly after opening one with them.  Consider yourself fortunate that they did not  shut down your CSP.

Third, what is the reason for the 40 point difference between your Equifax and Experian scores.  Are there late derogatories like a late payment on your Equifax credit report?

Re: Chase Freedom denied me several times!

I'm not sure if this is true. I believe it's only for the Sapphire family Cards.
OP should call Recon and explain that the citi card was an AU.

Re: Chase Freedom denied me several times!

No there’s no derogatories, it’s because of the hard pulls. No late payments in the past 24 months. I only have a balance of $883 on my Citibank, leaving my utilization in 7%. But I get your point. Thanks.

Re: Chase Freedom denied me several times!

The OP was not denied because of the 5/24 rule; in fact they are at 4/24.  The denial reasons give by Chase are self-explanatory:

"The letters that I received from chase have a list of the reason why they rejected me is because my oldest account is too short, requesting new credit, and the newest account is too short. "
