Chase Freedom vs. Slate

What is the different in reward structure between the Chase Freedom and the Slate?  Is there an advantage to one over the other?

Re: Chase Freedom vs. Slate

Slate has no rewards.... It is strictly a one time BT card as is pretty much worthless after that.

Slate has no reward structure, that's the difference.

Re: Chase Freedom vs. Slate

Wow, ugh, and they make it look so pretty on the website, don't they?  Smiley Very Happy  My mom has this card and seems happy with it, but she's never been one for the "perks" that come with it.

I've been preapproved for both, it's why I was wondering.  I'm supposed to be gardening, I know, but I'm tempted to take the Freedom while it's available and then quit after that.  (No, really.)

Something to think about.  Thanks.  Smiley Happy

If you want the card and can use it and have the Iniquires on your CB to afford then go for it.. spend 500 and get $200 dollars back after 500 spent.

Re: Chase Freedom vs. Slate

do banks know if you have tried the pre aprov many times? I want to get the freedom and I've read here that their pre aprovals are solid but I still don't get anything so I want to continue checking while I continue improving my situation.

Re: Chase Freedom vs. Slate

I would say yes they do know, which isn't bad..  Smiley Happy  I work on databases for a living and everything I write will write and audit record to a table ...  So in this case of a potential applicant to be spammed by mail in the future or even a pre-qual one day.  So not a bad thing checking pre-quals, but yes I gurantee they know who you are now.  The marketing dept. will eventually have a field day with you!

Re: Chase Freedom vs. Slate

ok, this is what I get when I check:

We are unable to locate any offers for you at this time.

This may be because you have opted out of "prescreened" offers from Chase
and other companies or you have recently responded to another offer from Chase.

is that their way of saying "nothing" or it's there a problem?

Re: Chase Freedom vs. Slate

That is what I got up to a few weeks ago then one magical day, stuff started to pop-up?  what changed?  A Denial from an amazon chase card a month or so prior?  Don't know to be honest.  Most likely the holidays and the might of "lowered" there standards slightly as you have been seeing alot of people getting pre-quals for the freedom/slate as of lately.
