Applied just to get the 175,000 point bonus. It went like this:
Normally, I would have told them to kiss off early on, but I really want these points.
Excellent result I'd say! Congrats!
..it does seem a bit crazy all the contortions just to get the card, esp. considering that you have several with them already.
Quite the ordeal you went through to get the approval, proof that persistence pays off. Outstanding SL, congratulations!
Congrats on the nice approval, @privacyadvocate69.
It was some hassle, but I'd say it was worth it all.
Thanks for those data points.
From my experience, Chase is often pretty cautious about new card applications, even from existing clients. I've had to verify identity or application status on new cards with them often, but usually uploading new documents has not been requested.
It was the first time I ever had to upload anything for any of the cards I've had.
Discover wanted me too. I didn't want their crappy card bad enough to bother with it. Screw those guys.

Just wondering if perhaps you've recently moved or had other changes? Perhaps your application information was a mismatch on the information from the credit bureau? I also haven't been asked to upload docs to Chase since I've been a client over 20 years. But when I opened several new cards a few years ago, I believe all of them had to be verified by the fraud department via telephone prior to final approval.
No. I've had the same address for ten years.
I don't think I entered any info wrong...but even if I did, they had enough to hard pull my scores, and they did that immediately when I hit "submit". I mean, what's the worst that could happen? They might send a card I didn't want to my address? Seems very low risk to me.
My Sapphire and SW air cards are only 9-10 months old. No issues there! They didn't approve the immediately, it took a couple of days, but they didn't ask me to upload anything.
Also oddly enough, those cards have a limit of $21.7K, but they gave this one the same $31.5K limit as my United Card (which is around 10 years old). Maybe they felt bad for being such jerkoffs? Nah....couldn't be (;
Maybe they didn't want to pay me the signup bonus and were just hoping I would go away. I earned the bonus for those other two cards within two weeks. This one is going to be harder because I don't have any big expenses coming up. We will see how it goes.
That's a great story and even greater outcome. Congrats.

- Not approved instantly. Said I would hear from them.
- Got a letter stating they wanted me to upload proof of DOB and address. I uploaded my driver's license, which has both.
- Got another letter stating they wanted me to upload proof of DOB and address. I uploaded my driver's license, which has both.
- Got another letter stating that since I didn't upload the requested info, they could not take action on my application.
- Called them. Went through two people. Nobody could tell me why they were asking for this info - but they did mention I need to upload TWO documents, even if all they info they wanted is on one. This was not mentioned anywhere in the letter. Idiots. OK, fine. Thanks.
- Uploaded my driver's license AGAIN, along with a water bill.
- Got a letter stating they are concerned about fraud, if I didn't apply for this card to tell them, blah blah blah. **bleep**?
- Called them again. Talked to two people. Nobody could explain what the problem was - but person review info on phone, said I was approved with a limit of $18,700. Great!
- Checked online, card already shows in my account with a limit of $18,700
- A few days later, I get another letter. They indicate that they made an error, and my limit is actually $31,500
- Checked my account online, I see the new limit of $31,500
- Still waiting for card to come in the mail.

Wow, @privacyadvocate69 ! Thanks for sharing your experience. I found it fascinating that their application tool didn't recognize the documentation provided the data they required in the single artifact, but is configured to accept two attachments.
You likely agree that going through this bumpy process was worth the effort. Congratulations!
