Re: Chase Relationship Building?

Couple more questions - where is best place to apply for a chase product ?

for example - should I go through my login on their site ?

I have "'matched for you " chase cards on Experian app - would that mean that if applied for these cards it would pull exp? Would I have better odds if I tried through Experian app?

Similar question for chase bonvoy card - I am gold elite w Marriott for 5 years - would it help if I applied for that card through my Marriott membership ?

thanks ! Tk

I would skip Experian, they're just paid to market cards which may or may not have any relationship to your odds for approval.  If you think you're even remotely at risk of being denied, I would apply in person at a branch.

I categorically refuse to do AZEO!

I'd agree with this.

The only time IMO there's a tangible benefit to you by applying through a 3rd party portal would be if it were extending an enhanced promotional offer that is better than what the issuer's own portal is currently offering.  Chase has occasionally done it in the past but it's been more of an AMEX thing.

Agree with the above that even though Experian might seem to be a more reputable credit source than places like Credit Karma, all of those card recommendations are marketing and profit-driven.  So unless there is a better offer through the link, no benefit in using them as @coldfusion pointed out.  Ditto for applying for the Marriott card.  On your card application, it will ask if you're already a Bonvoy member and to enter your member number (and other hotels/airlines do this also to link your existing loyalty account) so that information is taken into consideration.

Applying for the Chase card from within the Chase login might be helpful as they would likely prefill your existing profile data.  It might also help avoid a delay for fraud verification.  Just be advised, though, that with multiple Chase apps over the past five years and as an existing customer for over 20 years, they've frequently delayed my new card approvals until fraud verification has been completed.  So don't be too concerned if the approval isn't immediate.  (I believe I usually got the 7-10 day message.)

Also, which CRB (Credit Reporting Bureau) is pulled has more to do with the lender's preference and geographic location variations.  Using the Experian app has nothing to do with Experian being the file that is pulled.  We have a message thread with a listing compiled by and kept current by our members that may help give you some insight into which CRB(s) will be pulled for an application for a particular card.  Go to the General Credit Topics forum at this link:  Which Report Will They Pull, Part 2.

Actually, I've noticed experian.com drifting further and further into the tawdry, deceptive type of marketing Credit Karma pioneered. E.g., "You could improve your credit usage and increase your FICO® Score with a new card. Check out offers matched just to you." The last thing appying for one of their "offers" (which are not really offers at all) would accomplish is to "increase [my] FICO® Score".
