Started to work on my cards a few months ago, and this is a little history:
-Consolidated some into the Penfed 60 months $25,000 ($24,390 balance).
Current CC's with balance:
-$13,850 8.9% (CL of $15,000, credit union CC)
-$6,500 0% (balance transfer on Discover for 9 months and CL of $6,500)
All other cards are paid off!
Roughly $56,350 balance down to $44,740 ($20,350 on CC) and only 2 CC in maxed status and scores have jumped back up to 729 as well!
I have 2 Chase cards, a United ($3k CL) and a CSP ($14.3k CL). I know the Chase Slate is offering 0% and no BT fees. Now that I'm down to just 2 CC with a balance (both maxed though), would you guys recommend me applying for the Slate? I'm thinking IF I get approved, even if it's for a low limit, I can transfer some of my CSP limit over so I can BT the $13,850 card that I have for 0%. But odds of getting approved?
Thoughts? Thanks!
Typically you can't BT between the same lender. Not sure this is the best option. Maybe look into BOA beige card which if you pre-qual and back out they'll mail you a pre-approval for it with 18-21 months of 0% and I think they're waiving the fee as well right now. Otherwise maybe Discover for 14 months 0% or there's a Citi card that's 18 months as well.
Sorry I should've mentioned, the 2 CC's with a balance are not with Chase, they are with a credit union and Discover ($6,500 0% for 9 months I just BT).
I would BT the credit union CC which has the $13,850 balance to the Slate (if approved).
Ok, I would still diversify your BT's between different lenders. I suppose the Slate might work if you're willing to shuffle CL's around to make it work.
I have other cards with different lenders:
I don't really like BoA, would rather stay away from them...and I already have 3 citi cards, don't think they will give me another lol.
I've always had good experiences with Chase, and since I can transfer limits with them, figured maybe the Slate would be the best route in order to BT the full CU balance. I also bank with Chase with checkings/savings, not sure if that helps with CC approval though.
I don't really like BOA either to the tune of not having an account with them since 2007 and recently picking up a new Cash Rewards card for 10K this month to give them a 2nd chance. They've been trending to be better than they used to be with lending so figured I'd throw my hat in the ring and see what they do for growth.
Seeing a clearer view of your lineup does limit the options as you stated with whom you can BT to. 8.9% isn't that bad of a rate though considering rates are back in an upswing again with the fed rate moving.
I guess you can't really lose picking up a Slate and shuffling things around and not having to pay the fee to do it. Never hurts to try right?
Oh well it's just an inquiry lol, I will try once BoA reports the $0 balance on the 3rd to the bureaus, thanks for the input.
Does anybody possibly know if Chase Slate offers recurring BT offers in the future, or if it is generally just the intro BT offer and then a basic no-rewards card after that with no BT offers??
When I had the Slate and Amazon Visa, I got fairly frequent BT offers but I think I got it more often on my Amazon Visa than the Slate because I was using the former more. I have neither of those now and just the Freedom for about a year now. I don't use the Freedom often and I have yet to see any offers.

I get the BT offers via email from time to time. My into BT came and went awhile ago.
