Chase application questions

Hi,

I have been building my credit back to good for about 6 years.  My last late payment on anything was in 2010.  I have 2 acounts with late payments still reporting from 2010 that will fall off in 2017.  My current scores are:

All FICO 8:

Experian = 750
TransUnion = 706
Equifax = 699

I have one credit card (Cap1, QS with a $7000 limit increased from $3000 about a month ago).  All bureaus show the credit limit increase.

So I am in the market for a new card. I went to the Chase prequalify site and it showed 3 cards (Freedom, Slate and Sapphire Preferred).  Between the 3 cards, the Saphire Preferred card has the most bonuses, but thought it would have the most strict approval requirements.

Any thoughts?

Re: Chase application questions

I would suggest that you app for the CSP and Freedom. QS, CSP & Freedom are the 3 cards that I have.

Although there is never a 100% guarantee of approval, Chase prequals are very solid. Go for it!

Re: Chase application questions

I am not sure about applying for two cards instead of one.  I just dont know that my scores are strong enough for that.  The other thing is, that one of the three bureaus (Equifax) shows 9 hard inquiries on me.  I refinanced my mortgage and bought a new car last year and got my only credit card.  The car buying process resulted in multiple hard pulls.  Not sure what I did wrong, but it shows that.  TU and Ex only show four hard inquiries.  I didn't know if the 9 showing on Equifax would hurt me either.

How does that work (like literally, how would you put in two apps)?

Does it decrease your approval chances?

What are the benefits?

Re: Chase application questions

If you apply for the CSP and the Freedom right afterwards it should result in only one HP. You will be able to be approved for 2 but not 3 Chase cards. I would trust the pre-qualified offer. Not sure how ccc look at the HP's when buying a house or card, whether they count as one or are counted individually, perhaps someone else can weigh in here.

Re: Chase application questions

Nothing really recent on the CreditPulls Database.  Most were 3 to 10 years old.  The 3 that were in my state in 2015 were two TU and one EQ.  Those are my two lowest scores. (699 EQ, 706 TU).

Re: Chase application questions

I say app for the card you want CSP. If instant, app Freedom too if you want (for 1 HP). If your only interest is the CSP, go for it. I think you'll be approved. GL in whatever you decide.
Please come back to share your results!☺

Re: Chase application questions

I'd say go for it. Your current scores are better than mine were, as is your history I believe.

The Freedom and CSP play nicely together.

Good luck!!

Re: Chase application questions

I applied for the Chase Slate Card.  It fit a need for me to be able to transfer a balance at a 22+% rate and no BT fee and 0% for 15 months, as long as I transfer withing 2 months.  I was approved instantly with a $5000 limit.

I then tried to submit an app for the Freedom card and instead of taking me to the Application page it took me to a page that said:

"THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUBMISSION

We appreciate your interest in a Chase card product.  We have received the

information you have submitted. You may close your browser session."

I hate to sound dumb, but what does this mean?  Does this mean it wouldn't let me apply for the Freedom card?  Does it mean I was declined?  I am confused.
