would it be possible to recon a denial from chase regarding an application to amazon visa card and be approved in the same call. i was denied and the reason was "too many requests for credit or opened accounts with us". its silly to me how i can be approved the freedom yet still be sent SLATE prequal letters. if im going to be denied for trying a second card why continue to send those letters.
Yes. but i thought that was for chase only cards and not co branded cards.

It's 5 CC's via whomever
Be it Amex Citi Discover etc etc
And to answer your question of why they keep sending them
1) doesn't mean you'll be approved
2) could be just marketing
3) if it was a solid offer the fine prints states as long as your profile hasn't changed
Meaning if you were eligible 60 days ago when you qualified to be put on the list but since then you've opened 2 accounts
Then you may not be eligible for the pre-approved offer but still on the marketing list
Also all mail which states pre-approval are not
Some are just plan mass mailings to a certain zip code or median income area etc etc
A 5/24 denial is worded thus: "You have opened too many credit accounts in the past 2 years."
Your specific denial letter means you've reached the maximum amount of credit Chase is willing to extend to you.
As poster stated above, mailers are not a guarantee of approval. They're marketing.
Your denial doesn't sound like 5/24. Rather, it sounds like Chase is not willing to extend further credit at this time. They feel the Freedom card is sufficient and want to see more history.
Sometimes with this denial you can have them move limits around to open the new card but if the Freedom is very young this is doubtful.
