I applied for the Chase Sapphire Preferred and got auto-denied. After checking my chase documents portal, I found the reason letter. The only reason given was "too many requests for credit or accounts open with us". I called the recon line and was advised my app was eligible for reconsideration since the denial reason was likely caused by me having open/unprocessed applications that were hanging open due to a previous credit freeze on my Experian file.
The rep asked me a bunch of questions about some items in my credit file and even my chase checking accounts. She said she was sending my app for approval, but 1st transferred me to someone for additional identity verification. Upon successful identity verification, I was told I would hear back in 1-2 weeks😬😬
y'all wish me luck. I'll report back on final approval or denial.
Here are a few data points on my experian file:
Score: 711
inquiries: 7 in the last 24 months and 4 in the last 12 months
utilization: roughly 35-40%
No baddies currently in file, but I previously had a ch13 bankruptcy that recently aged off my report.
overall excellent average age and credit mix, but no high limit cards. Highest limit is $3500
Fingers crossed for an approval! 🤞

Welcome to the forum.
Good luck, but to be honest it doesn't look great. Utilization kind of high, inquiries kind of high, no experience with CSP's minimum limit of $5k. We've all got our fingers crossed, though.
Happy to report back that my csp card was approved with a $5k limit.
Into the garden I go.
