Chase starting limit

I had offers for Slate, Freedom Unlimited and Sapphire Preferred. I took Freedom Unlimited cause I only have to spend $500 to get the bonus. I have other new cards right now I have to hit min spends on before I would consider CSP. My current Freedom card  is at 10.5K and they gave me a 4K limit on Freedom Unlimited. Do you think I have any chance of getting a CLI when the card arrives? I still have an offer for Slate and CSP showing so I think I may have more credit still available with Chase. I'm OK with another HP if it gets my limit from 4K to 10K.

Re: Chase starting limit

If you're willing to take the HP, I've heard the CLIs can be pretty generous from Chase. I've shyed away from doing so because I have so many new accounts over the past year that I don't need to draw attention to myself.

Re: Chase starting limit

Just asked for a CLI on Freedom, went from $7,500 to $9,000. IDK if that's generous or not. Scores 750+, income around 35K. Also, applied for Freedom Unlimited just before that so I got a SL of $7,200. Hope this helps.

I wouldn't take another HP for a cli. In my experience I have had more luck using the HP for a new card and moving credit lines around to be honest.

Re: Chase starting limit

Question,

I was approved for the Slate for a SL of $2K. Called and asked for an increase -- said okay for another HP -- and it was only increased 500. I would like to call again and ask for another increase using the same HP. Have you heard of anyone doing that and if yes, were they successful? Your thoughts, please. Thanks

IMO, you wasted 2 HP's on a worthless card and if I were you, I'd SD that card. That said, no, don't spend HP's on it. Play with it for at least 6 months and then call and see if you can PC it to something a little more useable.

Re: Chase starting limit

Thanks Gardener, I agree with SDing the card. I am disappointed and will use card for utilization padding. And thanks for the idea of PCing it down the road.

Re: Chase starting limit

I wouldn't discount the Slate just yet. 15 months at 0%. I used a balance transfer check for 3 k on a truck down payment and paid it off in a year.

Didnt cost me a dime. After that I PCed to a FU. Just saying what works for some might not work for others.

If you already have the card enjoy the no interest and PC it to something down the road that will fit your spending profile.
