Citi DC CLI denied, lesson learned

My DC was one of the 3 cards I had when I found this board and started working on my credit. While acquiring too many cards, I've been counting down the days for a 6 month CLI with this tiny card because it would really be nice not to have to pay on it 3 times a month to make it usable.

Apped for SP CLI and denied for only one reason...too many new accounts.

I was so focused on score and usage (they approved me with a 602) that I thought I had it in the bag. I'm not upset, but definitely bummed.

I'm already back in the garden, but I'm curious to know of those that have Citi, how long before I should try again? 6 mos? 12 mos? Citi Costco and BofA Cash Rewards have yet to report as well.

I'd give it maybe another couple of months. Normally, when they do increase you, it is a 6 month wait until you can get another increase. But if denied, you can keep trying. They don't seem to give big limits on this card for most people.

Sorry to hear about the denial.  In your case, you should try in 12 months as that is enough time for the new accounts to age.

All I've got is time now! I'll just keep plugging away.

+1 YIM. Citi definitely likes to have some good time and distance from new accounts prior to granting a CLI. Smiley Happy

I've been waiting since Dec 2014.
