Re: Citi Double Cash Chances?

You should get your numbers up a bit.

Check the prequal site.

Wait for the prequal flyers to come in the mail.

Even if they did somehow approve you off a cold app it would most likely be a very low limit.

Good Luck.

250k+ CL and climbing.

Re: Citi Double Cash Chances?

I was approved w/750 Ex and 730 EQ and also received the lowest Apr. so I think you should hold out till ~680+ or 700 even...Besides even if approved Citi is very conservative w/ SL even for higher scores I can't imagine what SL u might receive and the highest apr. on top of that...There's no rush,,just work on what u got and give it some time for best approval chances..
Didn't see it mentioned but what are negs. & how old are they? wondering when they'd be dropping off reports is all....

+1 to Check The Prequal site. With Citi, that's your most useful feedback. If your offer is a range of APR after the 0% promo period, that's a marginal approval. If the offer is a specific APR, that is much more solid.

Even if it is a range, you may want to go ahead and try the app. The only way to know if you get the card is to app for the card. Even if it's a low limit, it gets you a start. I got my Diamond Preferred in 2012 with high balances, so a $1k starting limit, where it still is, but it has given me an opportunity to show spend, take advantage of some spend offers, use some small BT, and then app for some better cards this year.

Re: Citi Double Cash Chances?

My TU score is 689 and my Equifax score is 697. What are my chances of getting approved for the Citi's DC card?

+1

I was going to mention this. Even with a good.score, they are known for giving low limits on this card. I don't get the reasoning for that, but it is what it is.

Re: Citi Double Cash Chances?

I just got approved today for the Citi Diamond Preferred with a $7,000 CL. I applied last week and got the "application needs further processing" message, then got an email today saying approved.

I have been on a bit of an App spree lately. They pulled EQ/EX and I had 3-4 INQS since March, 7 INQ total.

I have no bad marks on my history, and much larger limits on several other cards. They don't seem too generous. I used to have a Citi card in college and they closed it in 2009 after five years of inactivity because I never used it.

Good luck with your application, and if you get the "further processing" message,  it doesn't guarantee denial. Seems like Citi does this often - send to a human for review.

Re: Citi Double Cash Chances?

I asked this in the "what did you get in the mail today" thread, but this thread seems more fitting so I'd like some feedback from anyone in here as well.

I received a Citi DC "pre-selected to apply" offer in the mail today which had a fixed 16.xx% amount.  Never received one of those before.  I went to their web site and put in my info to see what it said on there, and it said I was also pre-selected to apply for the DC card but it had a 23.xx variable APR quoted.

I don't care about APR's at all as I always PIF, what I'm curious about is how concrete Citi pre-selected offers are when they give you a fixed %.  I know with some other creditors they are pretty solid, like 90% chance of approval assuming nothing else has changed since they SP'd you... but other creditors it's a crapshoot like 50/50.  Any opinions on Citi with repsect to these offers?
