Citi Policy Change for New Card CLIs?

Out of curiosity, does anyone know if there is now a fixed minimum timeline for a first CLI on Citi cards?  I opened a Citi Premier very early in April, and I am still getting the "your account is too new" letter.  Looking at my records, my previous Premier and Diamond Preferred (has been a Rewards+ since that card was introduced) both received CLIs at the 7 week mark, with earlier attempts stating Citi's usual generic "too many recent accounts" or "too many inquiries" (which seemed to not matter a few days later) so this "account is too new" thing is completely foreign to me.

As is typical with Citi, I got a $3k starting line on this card and then a $5k CLI (to $35,300) 3 weeks later on another card that has had about $50 in total spend in the past 5 years (Rewards+ which I really only have to get the 10% TYP rebate).  I let the card report nearly maxed for this statement and the last day to earn my SUB is of course the day after my payment due date.  I'd rather not make an early payment to free up enough credit to finish that spend if I don't have to.

@K-in-Boston not 100% sure either as had same card near a year now about 11 months and still receiving that message granted haven't used it much and got a 14K CL on mine so sufficent, but doesn't mean i don't try and "account to new" or whatever wording the message is a well which is very strange for Citi now sure if just that card or complete policy change w/citi recently although know others have got them on AA executive cards and such apparently after 3-4 months fairly recently and the likes..  Would be curious on this as well.

For Anonymalous and I, it took us both 6 months for our core cards to allow us to get ~50% CLIs.

Thanks for DP..  weird why I am getting message at 11 months of card no being opened long enough but admitted not really any use other than bonus.  Will keep after year and pay AF and PC it and get AF back.  scores are in low 800's atm, but have plenty of credit with another citi custom cash card at 31k and this one at 14k out of the gate.  Think they as mentioned think I have enough on card considering no use so can't blame them in my case., but should change reasonSmiley Happy

Re: Citi Policy Change for New Card CLIs?

It occurred to me that I forgot to update this thread and thought I should for the DP in case anyone comes across this thread later. They did eventually double my CL (to $6000 after I let it report nearly maxed and then had to pay down the balance early to hit the SUB) on July 17th, so it ended up being eligible right at 15 weeks.

Congrats on your successful CLI, @K-in-BostonSmiley Very Happy

Just thought I'd throw out my own CITI data point, although it's not related to the Premier card.  My CITI AAdvantage Executive card was opened last October and I asked for CLI reconsideration.  I accepted another HP to do it, but got an additional $5K in about 30 days after the initial approval.  So perhaps, it depends on the card or other profile factors.  I've had other CITI cards off-and-on for over 30 years.

Re: Citi Policy Change for New Card CLIs?

I thought the timeline was 6 months myself.  Not sure if I saw that somewhere or if I was just basing it on my own experience. I couldn't get an increase until I hit 6 months.

I remember seeing some people report you could possibly get an increase on the Citi Custom Cash as soon as 3 months, but anytime I tried I kept getting the your account is too new denial reason.

The time between increases is definitely 6 months and that has been the case for a number of years now.  They even have a handy little popup these days that shows the date you last received one and when you are again eligible if you are not currently eligible.  But as I said in the original post my previous Citi cards had their first increases at around 7 weeks so this was not similar to my previous experiences with Citi.  It turned out to be 15 weeks for me, which is better than the year some are reporting these days but it was too late for me not to sweat actually hitting the SUB with a credit line so low and I had to resort to paying the card off early.

I've noted that pop-up also and found it very helpful!  Most lenders aren't that specific and you have to track eligibility yourself.  Oddly enough, though, lately I've not had the pop-up and the app has allowed me to proceed with my requests on my two CITI cards even though they were too early for the standard six-month interval.  I've tried a few times on both cards just for grins.   The requests were all denied and I received follow-up letters saying accounts aren't eligible yet.

Re: Citi Policy Change for New Card CLIs?

I have been successful at the 6month mark.  When I ask before...I get the same denial message about account age...though on the 6 month mark to the day...I submit and always get instant approval.  They haven't been stellar....$2K, $4K etc...nothing crazy but consistent
