Re: Citi Recon Question

I was declined for the Citi Double Cash with 4 recent Experian INQs.  The reason for the decline too many INQs.  When I called to recon they still didn't approve me.  The thing that is shocking to me is that I've had my Citi Thank You Preferred since 2011 and has been in excellent standing.  Maybe I called the wrong number to get a recon.  What number is everybody calling to get a recon with Citibank?

Darn. Turned down again on recon. I wish Citi was much more flexible with their recons and took more account for existing history with them. I've had their Forward card for over a year.

I always heard that the maxmimum you could have in the last 6 months was 6 but I'm starting to get that it might be a YMMV thing. Someone here told me that he didn't have any inquiries in the last three months and got the card despite having tons of inquiries in a six month period. Citi really doesn't make any sense sometimes and I've found them to be the most inconsistent prime lender of them all and just a pain to work with sometimes. At least with Chase, Amex, Discover or Barclays you have a better idea of what you're going to get and people to deal with.

It also really pissses me off that there's no way that my card can be PCed to the Double Cash because if that were the case, then I'd have no reason to apply for this card in the first place. I called back the EO and just told them that it would be a really great option if PCs were available for the Forward card.

There are a bunch of them listed on the backdoor page but I'll PM you the # if you want so I won't get into trouble here.

Re: Citi Recon Question

I really have no idea how I was approved for this card if they are inquiry sensitive. They pulled both EQ and EX and I had 5 on EQ (4 in the last 3 months) and 7 on EX (6 in the last 5 months and ). I'm thinking it's definitely a YMMY type thing.

Re: Citi Recon Question

If your 3rd recon efforts do not pan out, you might have to wait a bit before re-applying for the card.
