I applied for the citi secured on 1/4/17 and it went into a further processing is required. On monday i called to see what was going on and i was told that a letter was sent asking for more information. Sure enough i received a letter later that day which stated that they wanted a recent bank deposit statement. I printed it out and took it to the post office the following morning (yesterday1/10/17). This morning i check the status and it says that i have been denied and that i will receive a letter in the mail with the reason why. My concern is that there is no way that letter got to South Dakota from California that fast and they made a decision that quick. do you think i was denied just for calling? what should i do? any help is greatly appreciated.
I would call them back and ask if they received the requested documents. I wouldn't mention the "denial".....just pick up where you last left off.
flako
Pardon me if I appear stupid or nosy, but is the Citi secured you applied for a "secured card" or some branded card I don't know about?
The reason I ask is because your accounts in your signature seem off the charts to be applying for a "secured card". Is it some sort of strategy?
thanks
Mike
Citi legacy cards can be difficult to get with BK on your reports. Therefore, some BK'rs will get the citi secured card as a way "in" with Citibank. It unsecured after 18 months.
Citi retail cards are easier to get but doesn't necessarily lead to an easier path to the legacy cards.
wow thanks
good information to know!
I appreciate it!

The denial in their system could have been an error on their part. I would call them.

@nolamike yes the card i applied for was a secured card just to try and get in with citi on the legacy side.
@Anonymous i haven't called but i just checked their app status online and it went back to pending for further review so i hope its a good sign. Hopefully they dont double pull my credit.
I am trying to do the same. In my case Citi was included in my BK7(discharged 6/2012).
Apped 1/15 and I see that my deposit was taken 1/17 and status still shows further review.
I don't believe having my deposit taken is a sign of an automatic approval as I heard from other members say thats the 1st thing they do is take your money and mail back your check once they realize that you won't be approved.
Hoping for the best....On a side note, I also apped for BCE and it was instantly denied(yep burned them too).I just had to find out on my own.
