Citi Simplicity Rejection

Looks like Citibank will be a no-go for a long time or perhaps forever. I got an instant reject and a letter will be sent to me. I wonder what it will say. Since I burned them for a lot, I have a good idea of what the message will be.

Re: Citi Simplicity Rejection

You seem to have high scores. I dont know the card so dont know what they ask for. But cheer up better cards will come!

Re: Citi Simplicity Rejection

Scores are one thing. Burning them severely and including in BK-7 is another....

Re: Citi Simplicity Rejection

Unfortunately the BK will do that sometimes, but at least with your scores, you can move on to other things.

Agreed.  Citi isn't as forgiving as other banks.  So hang in there.

Yeah, I'm gonna give Chase a try later but it might end up being the same thing for the same exact reasons.

Re: Citi Simplicity Rejection

I got my rejection letter in the mail and the reason for rejection was

Too many recent inquiries.....

It didn't say anything about past business regarding BK so maybe I'll have a better chance as my INQs fall off?

Re: Citi Simplicity Rejection

How long ago did you burn them, and was it a BK?

I got approved back in May for a Diamond Preferred... I burned them in a BK7 back in 2000 and I wasn't sure if it would still matter or not.  I made sure when I applied that my reports were as 'perfect' as they were likely to get, and it worked.  At the time of my application I had four inquiries on EX, and three on EQ.

It did take a couple of weeks for them to get around to the verification stuff (the approval wasn't instant) but they let me back in.  It's possible that with an otherwise 'clean' report I wouldn't have had to wait as long as I did... I think other folks have been approved with a similar profile without waiting 16 years (LOL).

Basically, hang in there... depending on how you burned them and when, it's not impossible to get back with them.  Smiley Wink

Re: Citi Simplicity Rejection

I believe i burned citibank almost 10 years ago but i recently, about 3 months ago, got approved for their dc card. Im not sure if my last year of good timely payment with my best buy visa helped set up the legacy approval but yeah i think it comes down to time and patience with Citi. Keep trying when able snd good luck!
